Upon our arrival Treasure Island will give each person $15 of free slot play and a $3 discount food coupon. Bake and Book Sale Mon, May 2, 8-11am Bring a baked good or books. Books can be dropped off anytime. Tell the front desk staff to put them in Becky s office. All proceeds go toward financial assistance for YMCA memberships. Sign up to bring baked goods on the AOA Board. Bunco 1st and 3rd Thursday starting on May 5th at 9am Learn to play Bunco. No experience necessary. This game is very easy to learn and provides an opportunity to socialize since players switch tables each round allowing interaction with new people. Sign up for May 5th on the AOA Board across from the gymnasium. Feed My Starving Children Thu, May 5, 8:45am-12pm Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding children all over the world. Volunteers pack meals assembly line style. There are some duties that do not require you to stand if that is a problem. We will be using the YMCA mini-bus to get there. No need to drive! Meet at the YMCA at 8:45. Bus leaves at 9am. Get back around 12pm. Yoga (Silver Sneakers or AOA) Tue, May 10, 11:30-12:15pm in Studio 2 Which Yoga is right for you? Instructor Becky King will show you the differences between Silver Sneakers Yoga and Active Older Adult Yoga. You can try some of the moves if you want or just observe. We will also discuss the many benefits of Yoga. Lunch and Learn Thu, May 12, 11:30-12:30pm The Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging will share planning resources and options available for seniors who prefer to stay independent in their homes for as long as possible. They will identify activities of daily living and risks that may cause an older adult to have to move. Lunch is provided. (Minestrone Soup, Fruit, Crackers, Coffee and Water).

Pat s Treats - Spring into Summer Thu, May 19, 10-12pm Learn how to make delicious summer treats. You will receive the recipes and enjoy sampling all the goodies! In order to pay for the cost of the food please bring $5 when you come to the class. Every Wednesday, Memory Screenings Fri, May 20, 1-3pm Confidential screenings will be administered by FamilyMeans social workers, Sarah Gavin and Carol Davis. Each memory screening takes about 5 minutes. Please allow an additional 10 minutes to discuss the screening and any questions you may have. The result is not a diagnosis, but it can suggest if you should see a physician for a full evaluation. You ll leave with helpful information and a summary of the results to share with your physician if you choose. Sign up for a time slot on the AOA Board across from the gymnasium. Senior Health and Fitness Day Wed, May 25, 12:30-3pm Stay Active. Stay Brilliant, Stay Calm. Visit the Woodbury YMCA and explore our Information Fair in the gymnasium. Discover all that is available to YMCA members. Enjoy demonstrations of the many free classes we offer each week. Talk to a trainer about what you can do to get the most out of all we have to offer upstairs on the fitness floor (machines, free weights etc.) Play brain games, get a blood pressure check, a chair massage and much more. Save the date. Details to come. Bring non-member friends. This is an open house. Book Club Thu, May 26, 9:30-10:30am Anyone can participate. The book for May is Worth the Risk by Rich Gustafson. The author will be at the meeting. Anyone can come even if they have not read the book. Snacks will be provided. This group meets on the last Thursday of every month here at the YMCA. This study is led by Pastor Joseph who is a member of the YMCA and serves as Chaplain for the Woodbury Police Department. Cards and Bunco (NEW) Tue, Wed and Thu: 9am Five Hundred on Tuesdays, Hand and Foot on Wednesdays, and Bunco on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays. All are welcome. Coffee provided. Held in The Scene. No need to sign up for cards. Sign up for Bunco on the AOA Board across from the gymnasium. Fridays at Bring your knitting, cross stitch or other projects and enjoy the company of other YMCA members as you work. Coffee provided. If you would like to learn to knit, crochet, cross stitch etc. please come. One of the participants would be happy to teach you. Held in The Scene. No need to sign up. Just drop in. Wednesdays at in the Zone This study is led by Pastor Joseph who is a member of the YMCA and serves as chaplain for the Woodbury Police Department. We want to do all we can to help you achieve your health and fitness goals. Getting some guidance from our fitness professionals can help you do just that. Sign up at the front desk today. Wellness Consultations By Appointment All members of the YMCA are eligible for a free meeting with a personal trainer to develop an exercise plan that is safe and effective. It is not an exercise session. It is a consultation where your can discuss your fitness goals and physical limitations, if any, with a trained professional and get some general advise on how to safely achieve those goals. Sign up at the front desk or call 651-739-6593. Try Some Classes Free Drop In Fitness Classes These classes are free. You don t have to sign up. Beginners are welcome. In class you will get an effective and safe workout led by a certified fitness professional. All equipment is provided. Pick up an Active Older Adult Fitness Schedule with class descriptions under the AOA Board across from the gymnasium. This schedule rarely changes. Come join us! Just drop in! (no sign-up) Specialty Classes Although we offer over 100 free drop in classes per week, we also offer some specialty classes each season. We have Winter, Early Spring, Late Spring, Summer, Early Fall and Late Fall sessions. Each session lasts about 7 weeks. There may be a fee for some of the classes and sign up is required. Pick up a Specialty Class Schedule under the AOA Board across from the gymnasium. Sign up and pay at the front desk.

Bridge to Fitness Sample Class Tuesday, June 7, 11:30-12:15pm. Bridge to Fitness is a 30 minute seated class option for members who may be new to exercise, have less mobility, are deconditioned, or recovering from illness or injury. Instructor Becky King will show you what to expect if you come to this class. you can observe or try some of the moves if you like. Non members are welcome to come to this one time sample class. Lunch and Learn - Health Care Directives and End of Life Decisions Friday, June 17, 11:30-12:30pm. Rachel Schromen, Attorney at Law will walk you through the process of planning your Health Care Directive, with a discussion regarding advantages and challenges of this planning. Attendees will also be educated on how their Health Care Directive can be best utilized. Common misconceptions will be discussed and "debunked." Resources will be identified and presented to assist in completing your Health Care Directive - a process which can be both emotional and difficult. There will also be space for individual questions and concerns to be addressed. Sign up on the AOA Board when the date gets closer. Chanhassen Dinner Theatre - Beauty and the Beast Wednesday, June 22, $80 members, $85 non-members. Includes bus, meal and show. We have great seats in the 4th and 5th row in the center. Arrive at the YMCA at 10:15am, Depart at 10:30am, Lunch around 11:30am, Show at 1pm, Back at the YMCA around 4:30pm. Sign up and pay at the front desk starting April 30th Lunch and Learn - Estate Planning Monday, July 11, 11:30-12:30pm. Details to come. Trip to the Arboretum Monday, July 18, 11:30am-4:30pm.
