3 Welcome Hello and welcome to basketballscotland s membership information pack for Season 2014/15. Registration packages are available for everyone who wishes to play, coach, officiate (floor and table), volunteer or simply support the sport and become part of the Scottish Basketball Community. basketballscotland is always looking to improve the benefits for our members. Whether you are a player, coach, official or volunteer you will find many things you can benefit from with the basketballscotland membership this year! A bit of information about us, basketballscotland operates from our Head Office in Edinburgh with 15 professional staff dealing with areas such as coaching, refereeing, table officiating, competitions, regional basketball, national teams and player development pathways among others. There are also 5 professional staff members stationed throughout the country, working to develop basketball in each of the local areas. Our Regional Development Officers work together with the Regional Basketball Associations to deliver a range of activities and support partners, clubs and schools in your regions. Alongside the benefits outlined in this pack, your membership also helps us to demonstrate the growth of basketball and the good work that clubs and schools are doing, and is therefore important to the future of the sport. 8 Referees and Coaches Membership Your referee or coach membership ensures you are registered and insured to officiate and coach in basketballscotland competitions and/or local and regional competitions. Your membership also provides you with a public liability insurance policy specific for your role in the case accident during competitions. At basketballscotland we are working to add more value to the service we provide you with, and the benefits you receive as a member. 9 Volunteers, Table Officials and Statisticians Membership The life blood of virtually all basketball clubs in Scotland is you the volunteer. You are responsible for a role on the club committee, washing strips, setting up the court on game day, table officiating or a whole host of other roles that make your club what it is. At basketballscotland we are working to add more value to the service we provide you with, and the benefits you receive as a member. Please find information below on the benefits you, as a member, will receive this season. FREE membership You are entitled to all benefits outlined in the senior player membership. Associate Membership There are many people out there who used to play basketball, are a sponsor, parent, former referee, school teacher or have a connection to basketball in some other way. If this is you, then the associate membership may be best for you! You can officially become part of the community and benefit from multiple discounts in events and goods. The associate membership does not permit you to play, coach or officiate in basketballscotland competitions or local and regional competitions. However, you do benefit from all other features outlined in the senior player memberships on page 4, for 50% off the price of the senior membership. 9 I basketballscotland

10 How to Apply for Your Membership Anyone can apply for membership with basketballscotland. Please find details below on how to apply whether you are connected to a club or not. Basketball Club Members If you are connected with a club please speak to your club secretary or coach who will process your application and register you for competitions. Please note your membership has to be processed and paid before you are eligible to play. Once this has been done you will receive your membership card, and an with all the details on how to get advantage of all membership benefits. It is very important for us to have your up to date and postal address in the basketballscotland database in order to send you your membership card and communications. If you have changed address in the last two years, and have not updated your club please do so as soon as possible. Individuals not connected to a Club If you are not connected to a club but you have registered with basketballscotland before, you will receive an with your self-service login details at the beginning of August. If you haven t been registered with us before and you are not linked to a club please send an to [email protected] requesting your login details for an individual non-club membership. We will collect your details and then send you through your username, password so you can log in to the self service area to complete your membership application. Once this has been done, you will receive your membership card. Moreover, you will receive an with all the details on how to get advantage of all membership benefits. Membership Duration All memberships run from 15 August 2014 through to 31 July The membership price remains the same throughout the season for anyone joining during the season. 10 basketballscotland

11 Club Affiliation Your Club Affiliation provides your club members the opportunity to play in all basketballscotland competitions including National Leagues, Scottish Cups, Chairman s Cup, Regional Development Leagues and National Challenges.
