American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) June 9-13, 2014 Lifeguard Certification June 15-19, 2014 Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Course This course is designed for those who wish to teach progressive level swimming and water safety classes. Fee is $525.00. Participants should arrive and register on Sunday, June 8 after dinner. Class will begin after breakfast on Monday, June 9. Class will end before dinner on Wednesday, June 13. Lifeguard Certification Course This course will teach you the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Fee is $495.00. Participants should arrive and register Saturday, June 14 after dinner. Class will begin after breakfast on Sunday, June 15. Class will end before lunch on Thursday, June 19. is authorized by the American Red Cross to offer these certification courses. Participants will be living in wooden cabin buildings. Our cabins have indoor bathrooms and showers. Each participant should bring a sleeping bag or bedding, casual clothing, toiletries and towels. Also bring a facemask, fins, snorkel and a wetsuit (if you own one). The weather may vary from very warm to very cool. Please bring only appropriate swimwear. Full participation is required. Participants should be able to tread water for two minutes using only their legs; swim 500 yards continuously using the crawl, breaststroke, and sidestroke for at least 100 yards; and dive to a depth of at least seven feet to retrieve a 10 pound object, returning it to the surface. Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Course This course is designed for those who wish to teach progressive level swimming and water safety classes. This course includes the Instructor Candidate Training (ICT) course, First Aid and goes over the basics of swim strokes, safety, learning to organize lesson plans for different ability levels and teaching children versus adults. Participants gain practical experience through teaching lessons and self-evaluations. Lifeguard Certification Course This course will teach the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. This course emphasizes professional and equipment based rescues, including CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid. Topics include shallow and deepwater spinal rescue, working with a ring buoy, rescue pole, rescue tube and a rescue torpedo. This course includes the waterfront module.
The National Archery Association Instructor Certification Workshop Thursday, June 19, 2014 NAA Level 1 Basic Instructor Certification Course No previous experience is necessary This course is designed to qualify basic archery instructors for camps and youth programs. The course fee of $175.00 includes: room, board, course materials, training session, membership in the National Archery Association and certification as an instructor. Lodging is provided at no charge for participants. Participants should arrive and register after dinner on Wednesday, June 18. Class will end before 5PM on June 19. The National Archery Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the practice of archery. It establishes regulations, conducts tournaments, maintains records, and provides organized archery clubs with a well-rounded program of events. It was founded in 1879, making it one of the oldest sports associations in the country. The N.A.A. is the recognized governing body for archery in the United States and is a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee. The N.A.A. represents U.S. archery in the International Archery Federation and sponsors teams for international competition to determine Olympic and World Champions. The N.A.A. Foundation was established in 1986 and awards grants to archery organizations for special projects, with a preference toward promoting youth participation. USA Water Ski Summer Staff Water Ski Instructor Certification Thursday, June 19, 2014 Summer Staff Waterski Instructor Certification Program This course is designed for waterski instructors to understand fundamental group teaching techniques and the USA Waterski Standard Method of Teaching. The course covers the basic skills and techniques needed to teach all levels. The fee is $175.00.* Participants should arrive and register after dinner on Wednesday, June 18. Class will end before 5PM on June 19. *The cost of $175 includes room, board, Summer Staff Instructors Certification, processing fees (including instructional manual), and Certification Workshop fee.
