1 CAMP WOW 2014 Children s & Preteen Ministry Prestonwood Baptist Church Check-in/Departure: o Preteens Check-in at the Atrium at 7:30 a.m. (no earlier please) on Monday, June 23. All preteens will load onto the bus by 8:00 a.m. for a final check before leaving. o Grades 2 and 3 Check-in at the Atrium at 8:00 a.m. (no earlier please) on Saturday, June 21. All second and third graders will load on the bus by 8:30 a.m. for a final check before leaving. Parents, when your student checks in, you will be given a list of counselors who will be with him/her throughout the camp. Please lift their names in prayer that week. Nametags: Each camper will receive a nametag after check-in. The nametag will determine what bus the camper will ride on to and from camp. Campers need to make sure their luggage is loaded onto the bus they are riding on. Cost: All money is due by Sunday, June 15. Important: The Prestonwood Medical Release and Camp WOW waiver must be signed by a parent/guardian before campers may load the buses (please turn these in when you register for camp). Medication: Bring all medications to the nurse s table with labeled instructions for dosage. All medication (even over-the-counter) must be in its original packaging and checked in with the nurse. Parents, please have two identical index cards with the directions for your child s medicine, including the dosages and times. One index card goes in a sealed bag with the medicine, and the other goes to the nurse. Medication for the 4 th 6 th grade camp should be checked in on Wednesday, June 18, between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. or Sunday, June 22, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in the Atrium (all three campuses). Please do not wait until check-in, as this time is reserved for people who are out of town the week prior to camp. Please notify us of any special medical conditions by Wednesday, June 18. Spending Money: Please send no more than $20 25 (maximum amount $40) with your student for the snack bar or Camp WOW memorabilia. Camp WOW cash cards may be purchased. Laser tag is also available for an additional cost through Camp WOW s website. Instead of using a cash card, students may bring cash, but at their own risk! Parent/Child Correspondence: Parents are encouraged to send notes, postcards or cards that will be given to their child each day. On each envelope, please mark your student s first and last name, grade completed and gender, (e.g., Michael Thomas, 4th grade, boy). We will not be able to accept packages due to space limitations. Please drop these cards
2 into the bins located in the Atrium. This will really brighten your child s week (or weekend). You also have the opportunity to purchase bunk notes through the Camp WOW website. Packages: If you wish to mail your child a package for camp, please send it at least one week in advance. Send packages to Camp WOW, 8256 Diagonal 1500 Rd., Stuart, OK Please identify Prestonwood Baptist Church along with your child s name, grade and gender. Violations will earn an automatic trip home at your expense! 3. No one is to leave his or her room after lights out except in an emergency. If an emergency occurs, notify your group leader, any staff person, or Diana Pendley immediately. 4. USE THE BUDDY SYSTEM! Never go anywhere alone. You must stay with at least one other person at all times. Swimming is allowed only when and where our lifeguards are on duty. You must have a buddy to enter the lake. 5. During worship and celebration, you cannot leave the worship center for any reason, unless you are physically sick. 6. NO water fights, raids, or rough play will be tolerated. Camp WOW charges $50 minimum per damage to any building. You are financially responsible for any damage to the property or the bus.
4 7. No phone calls home will be made through the week except in an emergency. Please do not encourage or allow your child to sneak in a cell phone for use during the week. Camp is one of the most important weeks in a preteen s life. We want to do everything we can to ensure the consistency of the week. Unless it is a major event, we ask that you let your preteen stay for the entire camp experience. Counselor Cool-Down Treats: Parents often ask how they can help. One way to help is to bring our counselors treats that they can eat during the week. Remember, many of our counselors take a week of vacation to go with your child to camp. Your help is needed in showing them they are appreciated! Some suggestions are: Cookies and cakes Soft drinks and water Candy Chips Protein bars Trail mix Fruit/dip Veggie snacks/dip All items must be non-perishable. No refrigeration will be available. Please bring your treats to camp check-in. Questions? If you have any questions prior to camp, please dpendley@prestonwood.org, call , or come by the KIDZ Information Booth on Saturday or Sunday.
