2 SUNSHINE SUMMER CAMP Program features two weekly field trips (Tuesdays & Thursdays), weekly swimming at Driftwood Pool, arts & crafts, indoor and outdoor games and events. Must bring a lunch and drink each day. 4 STEM CAMPS SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING & MATH THEMED CAMPS VIDEO GAME DESIGN CAMP Campers will create games on different game engines with an introduction to programming. No previous experience required. At the end of the week campers will have developed a playable video game on different game engines. Pivot, Gamemaker, and Alice will be the main programs used. 6 SCIENCE, EDUCATION & ADVENTURE (SEA) CAMP A classroom without walls focusing on marine life and natural sciences. S.E.A. Camp includes marine biology, oceanography, water safety and ecology; helping campers build upon their science disciplines. Campers explore our beach areas, marshes, Everglades and other natural areas of interest, learning about fascinating wildlife, ecosystems and environmental issues. June 8 August 7 (Closed July 3 rd in observance of 4 th of July) :30 am - 4:30 pm (Extended camp hours 7:30-8:30 am 4:30-6:00 pm for additional fees.) 8 BEACH JR. LIFEGUARD PROGRAM This program is designed to provide children (8 17 years) of our community with a sound aquatic background and acquaint them with the hazards of ocean swimming while exposing them to an environment that will teach confidence and good sportsmanship. Program includes: Ocean and beach safety, lifesaving techniques and procedures, rescue board and ocean kayak skills, ecology, first aid and competition in ocean lifeguard events SESSIONS Session I June 8 to June 12 (Ages 8-10) Session II June 15 to June 19 (Ages 10-12) Session III June 22 to June 26 (Ages 12 14) Session IV June 29 to July 3 (Tournament Team by invitation only) Session V July 6 to July 10 (Ages 14 17) 9:00 am noon Residents: $80 Non-Residents: $90 REGISTRATION: Application packets are available at Beach Safety Headquarters or can be downloaded from (Fire Rescue & Beach Safety>Beach Safety>Jr. Lifeguard). Registration, uniform and waiver forms must be completed by all applicants. Applications may be submitted by mail or delivered to Beach Safety Headquarters. Applicants will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Hollywood Beach Safety Headquarters 707 S Ocean Drive, On Monday of each week, our Jr. Lifeguard Camp will assemble behind Hollywood Beach Community Center, 1301 S. Ocean Drive, under the pavilion (to issue uniforms). Tuesday through Friday Jr. Lifeguard will meet at our tent on Azalea Street and the beach. Mandatory Swim Test: Applicants must possess a basic swimming ability to participate. Returning Jr. Lifeguards will not be required to take the swim test. Applicants for week 1, will be required to swim a 100 yard course. Applicants for week 2 & 3 will be required to swim a 200 yard course and tread water for 3 minutes.
