About Us Since 2001, Campus Pride has impacted thousands of students as well as improved the LGBTQ safety and campus climate at 1400+ two year colleges, public and private four year colleges and universities, technical and trade schools, HBCUs, women s colleges and religious institutions. Campus Pride serves LGBTQ and ally student leaders and campus organizations in the areas of leadership development, support programs and services to create safer, more inclusive LGBTQ-friendly colleges and universities. Campus Pride exists to develop, support and give voice and action in building future LGBTQ and ally student leaders. Campus Pride envisions campuses and a society free of anti-lgbtq prejudice, bigotry and hate. It works to develop student leaders, campus networks, and future actions to create such positive change. Local Impact Campus Pride is proud to call Charlotte, NC its home. The national LGBTQ organization is well-known for its pioneering work supporting LGBTQ people and creating safer livinglearning communities at colleges and universities, especially in the South, rural and more conservative areas. Over sixty percent of the work Campus Pride does is targeted toward rural campuses and Southern communities. Campus Pride is unique in the world of LGBTQ national nonprofit organizations in that it is the only national youth organization based in the South. Campus Pride believes strongly in investing in its local community and shaping LGBTQ advocacy locally for youth. Campus Pride core services include: Education Outreach, Leadership Trainings, Advocacy & Policy Support, Youth Mentorship and Multicultural/Diversity Strategic Planning for colleges/universities.
Local Numbers In 2014, Campus Pride served hundreds of LGBTQ students directly in the Charlotte area and has actively grown our student leader network over the last three years. Each year Campus Pride works with students, faculty, staff and administrators at various campuses including Queens University of Charlotte, Johnson C. Smith University, Central Piedmont Community College, Johnson & Wales University, Pfeiffer University, Davidson College, Winthrop University and UNC Charlotte. Campus Pride serves a diverse mix of LGBTQ and ally students. Nearly forty percent of our youth identify as a person of color or multi/mix race. Over half of our youth served identify across the gender spectrum as gender non-conforming and/or transgender. Locally in the Charlotte area Campus Pride committed 26 percent of its resources, staffing and programs. Approximately $126,000 of the annual budget was spent to benefit the Charlotte area through workshops, lectures, training, press/communication, staffing and education events. A total of 7.5% of 2013 revenues came from local Charlotte organizations/grants, and 3.5% of revenues were from Charlotte individual donors. Campus Pride supports local trainings, workshops, and events in partnership with campuses and student leaders as well as other community partners such as The Freedom Center for Social Justice and Time Out Youth. Our events and partnerships seek to create greater visibility, education, and awareness as well as build a stronger, more vibrant LGBTQ community in Charlotte- Mecklenburg area.
