EMPLOYMENT DETAILS FOR POSITION OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR LONG DAY CARE (CERTIFICATE III) STATUS: TENURE: AWARD: CLASSIFICATION: SALARY: PAYMENT DETAILS: SUPERANNUATION: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: HOURS: ANNUAL LEAVE: SICK LEAVE: RDO: PROBATIONARY PERIOD: Temporary Full-Time The tenure for this position will end at close of business Tuesday 28 th February 2017. Victoria Local Government Award 2015 and the Moyne Shire Enterprise Agreement Dependent on qualifications and experience. Dependent on qualifications and experience. The minimum payment rate for a Certificate III qualified Educator will be $26.18 per hour. Salary is paid on a fortnightly basis into a nominated bank account by direct bank deposit. Council contributes 9.5% of salary and employees can choose to contribute a percentage or set amount of their salary into the Fund. Employees may elect to be a member of either VISION, Australian Super or HESTA. The Council recognises the importance of the employee maintaining an adequate level of skill and will allow for appropriate training opportunities. This is an 8 hour per day position, with hours to be worked as rostered between 7:30am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. 4 weeks annual leave per annum 12 days sick leave per annum The Early Childhood Educator Long Day Care (Certificate III) will be entitled to one rostered day off per month. This position is subject to an initial 6-month probationary period. PRE-EMPLOYMENT It is a condition of employment that appointees must undertake a pre- MEDICAL: employment medical examination at the Council s cost. A medical provider must certify that the successful applicant is capable of carrying out the physical demands of the position. PRE-EMPLOYMENT POLICE CHECK: WWCC: Appointees will be required to undertake a pre- employment Police Check at the Council s cost. It is a condition of employment that staff members must maintain a current Working with Children Check at Employee level (valid for 5 years). POSITION OBJECTIVES To assist in the delivery of an early childhood program which complies with relevant regulations, quality standards and codes of practice. 2. KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 2.1 Professional practice Assist in the implementation of a quality early childhood program in accord with Education and Care Services National Regulations and National Quality Standards. Uphold the values of the council, the Code of Ethics for early childhood educators and responsibilities under child protection legislation and protocols, and the impacts of abuse and protective interventions on the care and education of children. Engage in professional development education to continually assist in maintaining/developing professional knowledge and skills. 2.2 Program delivery Assist in the implementation of a quality early childhood program that reflects the principles, practices and learning outcomes described in the Victorian Early Years Learning & Development Framework (VEYLDF) and the National Early Learning Framework (EYLF). Demonstrate collaborative, effective and reflective practice. Such competencies are considered to be crucial practice principles for learning and development as described in the VEYLDF. 2.3 Documentation & Communication with families Communicate with others in a respectful and friendly manner, modelling appropriate interactions between staff, staff-children and staff-families. Respect the rights of others to confidentiality and privacy, remaining aware of responsibilities under relevant privacy legislation. Ensure communication is effective with all families. Where a child has English as a second language, work with the family and program staff to encourage these children to utilise and maintain their first language, while English is acquired at the individual child's pace. 2.4 Collaboration with families and community Create an atmosphere which is welcoming to all families. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA Early Childhood Educator Long Day Care (Certificate III) The following key selection criteria will be used as a tool to assist in the selection of the most suitable applicant. The criteria are not listed in any order of importance and the list is not exhaustive. A Certificate III in Children s Services (or equivalent), or be working towards a qualification. Relevant experience in an Early Childhood setting. A current Level 2 First Aid Certificate (including Anaphylaxis and Asthma) Working knowledge of the Regulations, standards, frameworks and codes.
