4 POSITION DESCRIPTION Registered Nurse Position Description CALVARY HEALTH CARE LAUNCESTON Version:1.0 Position Title: Position Number: Site/Facility: Department: Enterprise Agreement Registered Nurse, Graduate Nurse Transition Program Cost Centre: St Luke s and St Vincent s Campuses Calvary Health Care Tasmania Nursing Staff (St Luke s Campus and St Vincent s Campus) Enterprise Agreement Classification: Level 1 Reports To: Clinical Manager Date of Preparation: Feb 2015 Date Updated: Primary Purpose The Graduate Registered Nurse provides a standard of excellence in nursing care in accordance with legal requirements and the philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of Calvary Health Care Launceston. Actively participates in the Graduate Nurse Program which involves clinical rotations, attendance at study days and tutorials and completion of all requirements of the program within the 12 month period. Provide direct nursing care utilising clinical skills, education and support to patients and nursing staff within the unit to ensure the provision of best practise and quality patient care. 5 Excellence in Care: Consistently and enthusiastically delivers high levels of patient service to exceed patient expectations Conducts a comprehensive and systematic nursing assessment using a range of techniques to collect relevant and accurate data Plans nursing care in consultation with individuals/ groups, significant others and the interdisciplinary health care team Accepts direction, guidance and support from Preceptor/ Registered Nurses. Reports changes to senior registered nurse and, in consultation, identifies appropriate action. Ensure that all clinical and administration documentation requirements are initiated and accurately completed in a professional and timely manner. Ensure evaluation of effectiveness of care provided Accepts accountability and responsibility for own actions. Maintains a satisfactory knowledge base for safe practice. Demonstrates professional practice via adherence to ANMC competencies. Service Development & Innovation: Knowledge of and a demonstrated commitment to quality processes and evidence based practises, identifying areas for improvement and contributing to these improvements Wise Stewardship Act with integrity when using company material or representing the company publicly. Contribute to patient and staff safety and wellbeing by diligently managing risks and immediately reporting hazards, incidents, serious near misses, accidents, illness or injury. Being mindful and responsible for all fiscal and environmental resources. Community Engagement: Participate in mission celebrations and events. Contribute to team-based initiatives and activities that promote our mission values, including those in support of poor and disadvantaged groups within the local community. Remuneration All wages due will be paid directly into your nominated bank account. Hours of Work Your hours of work, including starting and finishing times for each day, will be as determined by your manager or by agreement on appointment. It is also a condition of employment that additional hours may be required from time to time. If you are unable to attend work on a normal work day due to personal injury or illness, or for any other reason, you must advise your supervisor at least one hour prior to scheduled starting time. If you are absent without permission, Calvary Health Care Tasmania could consider it is your intention not to resume work and therefore, put another person in your position. Superannuation Calvary Health Care Tasmania will make superannuation contributions into a superannuation fund on your behalf in accordance with statutory requirements.
11 Policies and Procedures You must at all times comply with Calvary Health Care Tasmania policies, procedures, rules and management directions as advised from time to time. These deal with such matters as: safe work practices, personal grooming and appearance, clothing and footwear, attendance at training programs, behaviour and performance standards, consumption of alcohol and other drugs, the searching of lockers, private bags, unauthorised absences, provision of full and accurate information and specific work practices. Calvary Health Care Tasmania may at its discretion change any of its policies, procedures, rules or directions. If at any stage you are in doubt about current requirements, you must seek clarification from your supervisor without delay.
