We provide services in four areas - women and girls, young people s services, families and financial inclusion. Programs include youth support services, financial counselling, housing, microfinance loans, family violence and wide-ranging family and children s services. We also undertake social policy research and advocacy. We rely on our mission to determine, guide and value our work. Good Shepherd Youth & Family Service is a member of the network of national and international organisations of the Good Shepherd Sisters.

2 Service Area The Family Violence Program sits within Good Shepherd Young People Women and Girls. The service agreement is with the Department of Human Services and is framed within the requirements of the Integrated Family Violence Framework. The program operates within a family violence framework and works to support women and children in their own journey away from violence. The program has a multidisciplinary team of staff located in both a central office and from outreach locations across the Mornington Peninsula. The program provides the following: Community Family Violence Support, a local family violence service for women and women with accompanying children who live on the Mornington Peninsula. The service provides risk assessment, safety planning, outreach, support, advocacy, referral to crisis accommodation, parenting support, referral to agencies on the Mornington Peninsula and group work. Crisis Supported Accommodation, Valerie House provides short term, secure refuge accommodation for women and children from across the state who are escaping family violence. This is located at a secure address and supports up to 4 families or single women at a time. 1. GSYFS Strategic plan GSYFS Policy manual 3. Delegations register Quality requirements 4. Position summary The Manager, Peninsula Family Violence Program is responsible for the program which delivers services to women and accompanying children experiencing family violence on the Mornington Peninsula. The program also includes support for those accommodated in a state wide secure refuge. A key role of this position will be to consolidate and evaluate the PFVP service model and to continue to build and support the team. Page 2

3 The program manager exercise professional judgement and management responsibilities within defined delegations the parameters of the strategic plan and long term goals for the Family Violence program and the organisation. The program manager provides professional supervision to the team and is responsible for team performance, including the achievement of program standards and targets. The manager also monitors project and contract requirements, reporting performance as required. The program manager develops ownership of the vision, mission and purpose of the organisation and champions service excellence and professionalism of staff within the area of responsibility. The manager contributes to the service strategy team and participates in sector and professional networks and peak bodies. Key accountabilities Organisational ethos, values and leadership 1. Contribute to and collaborate in the development of the Women and Girls services strategy. Organisational/Service excellence 3. Provide leadership to the team and actively participate in development and implementation of organisational strategic directions. 4. Manage the consolidation of the new PFVP model/program. 5. Proactively develop and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 6. Be well informed of new policy and program developments within the sector, for example Family Violence Code of Practice and Integrated Family Violence Partnerships. Professionalism 8. Maintain currency of professional skills and knowledge. 9. Model organisational values, professional standards, boundaries and benchmarks. 10. 4 Key selection criteria 1. Demonstrated commitment to social justice. 2. Tertiary qualifications in social work or psychology. 3. Demonstrated practice and management experience working in the family violence and homeless service systems 4. Demonstrated experience in exercising professional knowledge and judgement and managing change. 5. Extensive experience in managing a team and providing supervision. 6. Knowledge of Family violence service system and relevant social and public policy direction. 7. Demonstrated experience in program development implementation and evaluation 8. Demonstrated experience in managing budgets, contract monitoring, documentation and reporting. 9. Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining effective key stakeholder relationships including government departments, key sector partners and funders 10. Excellent organisational skills and a demonstrated capacity to work flexibly and within tight timelines. Key performance indicators 1. 5 Additional information This position is based within the Mornington Peninsula Local Government Area however all employees may be required to work at or across other sites from time to time Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) All employees are required to carry out their duties in a manner that does not adversely affect their own health and safety and that of others by reporting all incidents and injuries as well as co-operating with any measures introduced in the workplace to improve OH&S. 9 Good Shepherd Youth and Family Service conditions and benefits Good Shepherd Youth and Family Service is a family friendly workplace offering generous conditions and flexible working arrangements. The organisation s collective agreement was negotiated with all staff and the Australian Services Union. The agreement offers many benefits. These benefits include: up to $16,000 pa salary packaging a tax effective benefit meals and entertainment packaging up to $5200 pa - a tax effective benefit paid parental leave long service leave due after ten years, with access after seven additional paid leave days at Christmas-New year and at Easter 48/52 purchased leave scheme cultural and volunteer leave sick leave pooling. The organisation also offers internal career pathways, study leave, professional development and training and a commitment to staff safety. Salary packaging Salary packaging allows you to increase the tax free component of your salary. If you take advantage of salary packaging, your take home pay is increased. Salary packaging is available to all ongoing and limited term staff. In addition to salary sacrifice to superannuation, Good Shepherd offers additional salary packaging for up to 30% of your salary, capped at a maximum of $16,000. Other salary packaging options may also be available.
