Selecting a Residual Current Device (RCD) Cnnect the DC cnnectrs f each string t the DC+ and DC- cnnectrs accrding t the labels n the inverter. Figure 15: Inverter DC Cnnectins Selecting a Residual Current Device (RCD) IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE All SlarEdge inverters incrprate a certified internal Residual Current Device (RCD) in rder t prtect against pssible electrcutin and fire hazard in case f a malfunctin in the PV array, cables r inverter. There are 2 trip threshlds fr the RCD as required fr certificatin (DIN VDE 0126-1-1). The default value fr electrcutin prtectin is 30 ma, and fr slw rising current is 300 ma. If an external RCD is required by lcal regulatins, check which type f RCD is required fr the relevant electric cde. SlarEdge recmmends using a type-a RCD. The recmmended RCD value is 100mA r 300mA unless a lwer value is required by the specific lcal electric cdes. When required by lcal regulatins, the use f an RCD type B is permitted. In installatins where the lcal electric cde requires the use f a lwer leakage RCD, the discharge current f capacitive parasitic leakage may trip the RCD. Use the fllwing prcedure t avid this prblem: l Select an apprpriate RCD t ensure prper peratin f the installatin. A 30mA RCD may still trip at 15mA (accrding t IEC 61008). Gd quality RCDs will trip at a higher value. l PV mdules with lw capacitance leakage t the frame are preferable.
