T launch Windws Perfrmance Mnitr Click Start, click in the Start Search bx, type perfmn, and press ENTER. Perfrmance Mnitr prvides a visual display f built-in Windws perfrmance cunters, either in real time r as a way t review histrical data. Yu can mnitr applicatin and hardware perfrmance in real time, custmize what data yu want t cllect in lgs, define threshlds fr alerts and autmatic actins, generate reprts, and view past perfrmance data in a variety f ways. 4 View statistics in real-time 1) Launch Perfrmance Mnitr: Click Start, click in the Start Search bx, type perfmn, and press ENTER 2) In the navigatin tree, expand Mnitring Tls, and then click Perfrmance Mnitr. Revisin 1.1 7

3) Right-click in the Perfrmance Mnitr display area and click Add Cunters Revisin 1.1 8

4) Inside list "Available cunters" lcate "MiaRec " cunters. Select ne r mre cunters and click "Add >>" buttn. And then click OK. Different perfrmance cunters are available. 5 Cllect histrical data fr analyzing It is pssible t cllect histrical data fr lng perid, fr example, a few days. 1) Launch Perfrmance Mnitr: Click Start, click in the Start Search bx, type perfmn, and press ENTER 2) In the navigatin tree, expand Mnitring Tls, and then right-click Perfrmance Mnitr and select frm menu New -> Data Cllectr Set. 3) Enter name fr new data cllectr set Revisin 1.1 11

4) Select lcatin fr data files Revisin 1.1 12

5) Select newly created Data Cllectr Set in the left pane. Revisin 1.1 13

6) Right click n System Mnitr Lg in right pane and select Prperties. Revisin 1.1 14

7) Click Add t select the desired perfrmance cunters in main windw. 8) Change frmat t Tab separated r Cmma Separated. This will allw t pen the resulting file in Excel applicatin fr analyzing. Revisin 1.1 15

9) Change sample interval. Recmmended interval is 5 minutes. Revisin 1.1 16

10) Nw yu can start cllecting data. Select Start frm right-click menu. Revisin 1.1 17

11) When yu decide t finish cllecting lg infrmatin, select Stp frm right-click menu. 12) The resulting data file can be pened fr analyzing in Excel applicatin (see next chapter). Revisin 1.1 18

6 Using Excel t analyze cllected data This chapter discusses hw t pen a *.csv r *.tsv file, apply frmatting changes and use Pivt Chart functinality built int Excel t graph the cunters. Finally, we will demnstrate hw t use date filters t drill deeper int specific time ranges, in rder t view the graph data in greater detail. The screenshts and steps belw are fr Excel 2013, but they shuld als wrk fr Excel 2007/2010. 6.1 Open perfrmance cunter lg file in Excel. Once file is pened, make sme frmatting changes: 1) Change the text in the A1 cell frm (PDH-CSV 4.0 t simply DateTime 2) Yu can rename ther headers in the first rw t make them shrter. By default name f each perfrmance cunter cntains cmputer name in the beginning like: \\MyServer\MiaRec Statistics\Active Recrding Calls Remve cmputer name and keep nly name f perfrmance cunter, like: MiaRec Active Recrding Calls Revisin 1.1 19

3) Remve rw 2 by right clicking n the rw number > Delete. This rw, cntaining the first rw f data, is typically a junk rw. 4) Highlight the entire A clumn by clicking n the clumn header, then right-click anywhere in the clumn > Frmat Cells Revisin 1.1 20

5) On the Number tab, select the Date categry and the 3/14/01 1:30 PM type, and click OK. Revisin 1.1 21

6.2 Create Pivt Chart 1) Select the tp left cell (A1) 2) Frm Insert menu click n PivtChart buttn and select PivtChart frm drp dwn menu. 3) Yu will see dialg Create PivtChart. Click OK. Revisin 1.1 22

4) On the right pane PivtChart Fields select DateTime field and thse perfrmance cunters, which yu wuld like t see n graph. Make sure that DateTime field appear in AXIS pane in right bttm crner and ther fields appear in VALUES pane. If nt, then drag fields between panes. Revisin 1.1 23

5) Right-click inside chart area and select Change Chart Type Revisin 1.1 24

6) Select Line as a chart type. Revisin 1.1 25

7) Click OK. Nw yu will have graph shwing changes in perfrmance cunters in time. Revisin 1.1 26

6.3 Drilling deeper int specific time ranges. 1) T see n graph values filtered by date range, click n DataTime buttn in left bttm crner f graph and select Date Filters -> Between Revisin 1.1 27
