Qualification Melbourne Polytechnic is offering the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment in 2015 via a blended delivery model. This qualification is designed to provide workplace facilitators and personnel within the vocational education and training sector, with a range of training skills including: developing learning programs preparing and delivering training sessions supporting students to maximise learning evaluating and assessing students to ensure learning outcomes have been achieved To attain the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment you are required to complete 10 units of competency (units). Special Program Requirements To meet the demands of the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment participants it is highly recommended that students have: Effective and highly developed: command of written and spoken English communication, documentation and research skills computer access and skills for web use, word processing, presentation software and email A high level of commitment: participants are required to spend approximately 16 hours per week (scheduled days) on assessment requirements A Workplace or a simulated workplace consisting of: at least 8 participants to participate in simulated assessment tasks appropriate training facilities to conduct training in TAE40110 qualified assessor OR video recording and DVD burning apparatus provisions Melbourne Polytechnic Business and Hospitality Page 5 of 10

Pathways After achieving the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment participants may undertake the TAE50111 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training, a qualification designed for those: leading other trainers and assessors providing mentoring or advice to new trainers or assessors designing approaches to learning and assessment strategies across a significant area within the VET sector The TAE50111 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training reflects the roles of experienced practitioners delivering training and assessment services usually as Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) within the vocational education and training (VET) sector. Delivery The TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is delivered via a blended model using a combination of workshops, online learning and internal / external reviews. For this reason computer access and IT skills are essential. All assessments will be undertaken out of class. Most assessments will be undertaken in groups and therefore students are required to have at least 8 participants to participate in simulated assessment tasks. Melbourne Polytechnic has a commitment to sustainable work practices with a focus on minimising paper waste and utilising electronic resources. Moodle is the online portal for all resources and information for the course. To use Moodle effectively you will need to have one of the following browsers installed on your computer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari or Google Chrome Please note due to the nature of the course students are advised to: not rely solely on trainer support but explore and utilise all support service available to them through the TAFE manage their time and work commitments accordingly invest a significant time into the program develop and resource a workplace or simulated workplace prior to commencing the course Timetable The TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is offered via a day or evening classes. Online refers to reading and assessment that is required to be completed that week and prior to the next class. There are no online classes or attendance requirements. Class requires students to attend classes on campus Self-study refers to week where by students complete assessments and can receive 1 on 1 with trainer (by appointment) Please note classes are subject to sufficient enrolments. Assessments have been designed to relate to a real simulated workplace. Detailed information regarding individual units, training and assessment criteria will be found in the Unit Outlines available on the e-learning platform upon enrolment. Allowable Adjustments All evidence gathered will be assessed according to the rules of evidence. SKILLS RECOGNITION Skills recognition is the overarching term given to the recognition of skills and knowledge gained through formal and informal training gained by the applicant. It acknowledges previous learning and current competence from a participant s relevant life, work experience, formal education and/or professional development. Skills Recognition should be considered applied and granted prior to commencement of a course so as unnecessary training does not occur. For further details please contact Ramona Younan on 9269 1621. Resources Resources will be provided by Melbourne Polytechnic and available on our e-learning platform. Participants are required to bring a USB storage device to all classes and have access to a computer and the internet outside of class. Libraries Melbourne Polytechnic have libraries located at each of its campuses - Collingwood, Epping, Fairfield, Heidelberg and Preston. Access to electronic resources, full text articles and e-books complement these hard copy and audio-visual materials. Computer access is available at all campus libraries. Printing, photocopying and scanning facilities are also available. Student Services Qualified staff are available to discuss personal issues students may be experiencing. Students are also able to access study skills assistance if required. Car Parking Student and visitor parking is available on most campuses (except Prahran). Option 2 - Certificate I-IV Melbourne Polytechnic have instigated an Instalment Payment Plan which enables students enrolling or reenrolling to pay their fees via an agreed instalment payment plan. Eligibility Criteria applies. Option 3 - Diploma and above (Eligible) VET FEE-HELP allows a student to have all or part of their VET tuition fees paid by the Australian Government in the form of a loan, regardless of whether they are eligible or not for a government funded place. Eligibility Criteria applies. Option 4 - Diploma and above (Ineligible) Students who are ineligible for VET FEE-HELP may choose to pay their 2015 fees using the Instalment Payment Plan. Melbourne Polytechnic have instigated an Instalment payment Plan which enables students to pay their fees via an agreed instalment payment plan over four payments. Enrolment Requirements When enrolling, you are required to provide proof of citizenship/residency and age. Examples of acceptable document are as follows: Australian passport Australian Birth Certificate Passport showing permanent residence Green Medicare card and driver s licence If you are applying for a concession (applicable courses only) we will need to be able to sight the appropriate card. If you need further clarification of this requirement please contact Melbourne Polytechnic. Eligibility: Victorian Training Guarantee (VTG) Under current VTG arrangements this enrolment may affect future training options and eligibility for government subsidised training. As of November 2014 you can commence a maximum of two subsidised courses at the same qualification level in your lifetime. This restriction applies whether or not courses are completed. You can begin up to two subsidised courses in a year as long as you are not undertaking more than two courses at a time.
