The rights cnnected with these degrees will be acquired frm each f the participating states. Upn cnsensual agreement f the degree-awarding partners, the cnsrtium can be expanded t include additinal degree-awarding and/r mbility partners. The rights and duties f the additinal degree-awarding and/r mbility partners will be regulated in the annexes t this c-peratin cntract. (2) Legal Prerequisites The setting up f a Jint Degree Prgramme is based n the fllwing legal prerequisites: at the University f Graz, Austria, n sectin 51 Abs. 2 Z 27 and 87 Abs. 5, Universitätsgesetz 2002 (UG 2002) (Austrian Universities Act) and 37-39 Satzungsteil Studienrechtliche Bestimmungen (Legal Regulatins n University Studies); at the University f Zadar, Cratia, n Law n Scientific Activity and Higher Educatin (Official Gazette numbers 123/03, 198/03 and 105/04), Law n Quality Assurance in Science and Higer Educatin (Official Gazette number 45/2009), Statute f the University Zadar (Nvember 10 th, 2011); at the University f Trent Italian Decree n. 270 issued n the 22nd Octber 2004 and Statute f the University (D.R.395 dated 14 th July 2008); ~ 1 / 7 ~

N. 111/1998 (Amended and Cnslidated) n Higher Educatin Institutins and n Amendments and Supplements t Other Acts Sectin 1 and sectin 47a. 2 Definitin f Key Cncepts Jint Degree: refers t a degree prgramme develped and rganised by tw r several Higher Educatin Institutins in cllabratin which leads t ne jint degree certificate. Cnsrtium: includes partner institutins referred t as degree-awarding partners and mbility partners. Degree-awarding Partner: partners ffering a full range f curses/mdules accrding t the curriculum and jintly cnferring the jint degree. Mbility Partner: partner ffering a track accrding t the curriculum that is autmatically recgnized within the prgramme. The mbility partner is included in the prgramme withut hwever cnferring the degree. The academic representative f the mbility partner takes respnsibility fr rganising the academic advising f the mbility students. Hme University: university where the student starts the prgramme, where s/he is registered, pursues 60-90 ECTS f his/her studies and that issues the diplma. Crdinating University: is respnsible fr the planning and rganisatin f the prcess f develping and implementing the jint prgramme including the planning f cperatin meetings, rganisatin f the selectin meetings, string f all basic student data. It is respnsible fr rganising and planning all prcedures cncerning the cnsrtium as a whle. Hwever, it is nt invlved in the necessary steps t be undertaken within every partner university. General Prgramme Bard: includes the academic representatives and c-representatives f all degree-awarding partners and is respnsible fr prgramme management, quality management f the prgramme, curriculum develpment, and academic advising. Administratin f the Bard is the respnsibility f the crdinating university. The chair f the bard will alternate annually. Selectin Cmmittee: includes the academic representatives r c-representatives f the degreeawarding partners fr selectin f students wh want t enrl in the jint prgramme. 3 Objectives An essential part f this prject is the implementatin f a cmmnly develped prgramme referred t as Internatinal Jint Master s Degree in Cultural Scilgy. The wrklad amunts t 120 ECTS credits f which at least 60 ECTS have t be achieved at the hme institutin and at least 30 ECTS credits have t be cmpleted at ne f the abve named universities within the mbility semester. The first semester f study must be cmpleted at the hme institutin. The verall minimum duratin f studies is fur semesters. The master s prgramme will start fr the first time with the academic year 2012/2013. The master s prgramme prmtes mbility in the cntext f a well structured and rich prgramme f study. In additin t prviding intercultural experience, it increases the internatinal emplyability f graduates. 4 Target Grup The primary target grup are applicants wh hld a first cycle degree in scilgy, scial sciences r the humanities with a slid backgrund in qualitative and quantitative methds, thery f the scial sciences, and applicatin f scial sciences. ~ 2 / 7 ~
Cultural Scilgy is a subject that requires an inter-disciplinary perspective. Fr this reasn, the Jint Master s Degree in Cultural Scilgy welcmes individuals hlding an academic degree f at least 180 ECTS credits (bachelr s degree r equivalent prgramme f at least 180 ECTS) wh can demnstrate their knwledge f the scial sciences, research skills and a general insight in the subject f Cultural Scilgy. Graduates frm different frms and fields f studies can be admitted if the cmpleted prgramme is judged t be equivalent in the regular admissin prcedure f the university fr which the student applies. 5 Applicatin and Admissin Each year, up t 12 students per degree-awarding university can be accepted. The General Prgramme Bard decides n the maximum number f students t be accepted int the prgramme. Places are allcated accrding t the available resurces. The lng-term gal is t achieve reciprcity in the exchange. The maximum capacity f students t be accepted at each university as hme and mbility students will be published annually n the website. The number f annual admissins can be changed upn cnsensual agreement f the General Prgramme Bard. Applicatin Prcedure Students will apply t the jint prgramme via University f Graz accrding t the infrmatin prvided in the call. Students must indicate nly ne university f the cnsrtium as their hme university. Applicants will prvide the required dcuments by a cmmnly annunced deadline. Required dcuments: - cmpleted applicatin frm - persnal mtivatin letter (max. 2 pages) - curriculum vitae - cpies f diplma certificate/degree certificate (+ English translatin, fficially authrized if student cmes frm a language backgrund ther than that f the chsen hme university) - 1 academic letter f recmmendatin (frm a staff member f the previus study prgramme) - transcript f recrds - cpy f the passprt ID page - The applicant must submit an riginal and recent certificate f English language prficiency at an advanced level frm an authrized bdy. English-native-speaking applicants and thse wh successfully cmpleted a bachelr prgramme cmpletely taught in English d nt have t take this test All dcuments, except fr cpies f the passprt ID page and diplma/degree certificate must be submitted in English. If any f the required dcuments is missing, the applicatin will nt be cnsidered. Where the degree is nt yet cnferred, the student will be asked t present prf f his / her status and can present the degree certificate at a later date. Prf f required language prficiency fr nn-native speakers applying at individual degree-awarding partners as hme university is regulated per respective rules f each university. The Selectin Cmmittee decides whether the applicant is nminated t the prgramme. In case a nminated student withdraws frm his/her applicatin, the next persn mves up t take the free place. Admissin t the hme university is a separate prcess accrding t the usual lcal prcedures fr matriculatin. Internatinal Offices f the partner universities will take care f the prcedures cnnected t the bligatry semester abrad. 6 Centralized Electrnic Student Data Data f all students pertaining t the Jint Master s Degree are stred centrally at the University f Graz (crdinating university). Each university is granted permissin t read the infrmatin subject t the data prtectin acts f each participating cuntry. Partner universities are bliged t prvide the crdinating university with the necessary infrmatin. By applying t the prgram students agree t this prcedure. All hme universities stre student data per respective rules f each university. 7 Tuitin Fees Registratin r tuitin fees are charged by the hme university. Students cmpleting a semester abrad as part f the master s prgramme are nt charged any further fees prvided they pay their fees at their hme university. Students in their mbility phase are regarded as regular/regular-equivalent students and will be granted nrmal access t the facilities f the hst university. Lcal fees and health insurance prvisins may vary per institutin. 8 Obligatry Semester Abrad Students take the elective mdules at a partner university in the 3 rd semester. This semester is referred t as bligatry semester abrad. Students can als apply fr additinal semesters abrad. Places are allcated by the General Prgramme Bard accrding t available resurces. It is assumed that the general and specific university academic entrance requirements are satisfied upn nminatin by the hme institutin. If a student fails a curse during mbility, the missing ECTS can be acquired at a summer r winter schl ffered by the cnsrtium r recgnized by the General Prgramme Bard. Pre-accreditatin f summer r winter schl curses by the hme university is required. Examinatins can be retaken per the respective regulatins gverning the partner institutins. Mbility students are exempt frm registratin and tuitin fees at the hst university. ~ 4 / 7 ~
9 Duratin and Structure f the Prgramme The Master s prgramme cnsists f 120 ECTS credits acquired ver a perid f fur semesters. Mbility is bligatry in the third semester. At least 30 ECTS credits must be btained at a partner university. Changes in the curriculum require a cnsensual agreement f the degree-awarding partners. 10 Examinatin Prcedures, Grading System and Thesis Examinatins are carried ut per the respective regulatins gverning the partner institutins. The grading system fllws the respective regulatins gverning the partner institutins. Grade equivalents are defined in the annex t the curriculum. The thesis is cmpleted per the respective regulatins gverning the partner institutins. 11 Awarding f the Academic Degree Students cmpleting the prgramme earn the Internatinal Jint Master s Degree in Cultural Scilgy that is equivalent t the master s degree in the cuntries f the partner universities as fllws: Austria: Master f Arts MA Cratia: Magistar/Magistra scilgije Mag. sc. Italy: Laurea Magistrale in Scilgia e Ricerca Sciale (classe LM 88) LM Czech Republic: Magistr/ Magistra scilgie Mgr. Students earn the Jint Degree mentined abve frm the degree-awarding partner universities (Graz, Zadar, Trent, Brn). The hme university is respnsible fr the issuing f the diplma dcument cnfirming the qualificatin accmpanied by a detailed recrd f study (e.g. diplma supplement) keyed t the prgramme requirements. Accrding t the Italian university regulatin, Trent will als award students with its natinal diplma. The diplma dcument bears the insignia f the degree-awarding institutins. 12 Participating Universities and their Assigned Respnsibilities Participating universities are equal partners, with the University f Graz respnsible fr the crdinatin. All participating universities are bliged t exchange infrmatin cncerning the prject n a regular basis. Each f the universities designates an academic representative and c-representative, wh will be respnsible fr the crdinatin f the degree prgramme and its academic supervisin and will serve n the General Prgramme Bard and the Selectin Cmmittee. Each degree-awarding university has ne vte in decisin making prcesses. ~ 5 / 7 ~
The participating universities are nt liable fr damages caused by (guest) students and cannt be prsecuted fr any accidents caused by students. 13 Financing Csts f participatin in the master's prgramme, travel expenses and csts fr rm and bard must be cvered by the students themselves. Financial subsidies can be applied fr thrugh existing mbility prgrammes and grants. Teaching is carried ut in cnjunctin with existing degree prgrammes. 14 Evaluatin and Quality Assurance The General Prgramme Bard is respnsible fr the verall management and quality assurance f the prgramme. Curse evaluatin is the respnsibility f each partner university. Students and staff f the participating universities will engage in nging review and evaluatin. The representatives f the participating universities will meet at least nce a year t cnsider these reprts tgether with recmmendatins fr further enhancement. Other evaluatin and quality assurance prcedures will be determined per the respective regulatins gverning the partner institutins. The evaluatin f curses will cncentrate n the crrespndence f teaching and assessment t the learning utcmes as expressed in the unit descriptin. 15 Withdrawal frm/terminatin f the Cntract Tw years written ntice must be given by any participating university f its intentin t withdraw frm the prgramme. After ntice f withdrawal the prgramme will be ffered anther five semesters. The same regulatins als apply in case mbility partners want t withdraw mdules. Partner universities can request a change in their status (frm mbility t degree-awarding partners). This cntract is valid withut term. Amendments t this cntract must be by mutual cnsent. 16 Cntrversy Reslutin Any cntrversy arising frm r in cnnectin with this cntract will be regulated as per the rules and regulatins in frce at the hme university f the student invlved. ~ 6 / 7 ~
