1 School of Nursing: Irene Riddle Endowed Chair in Pediatric Nursing Research THE SEARCH The Irene Riddle Endowed Chair in Pediatric Nursing Research in the Saint Louis University School of Nursing is designed to allow the University to support and nurture an intellectually rigorous and ethically sound academic community in the specialty field of child health. The endowed chair will: advance nursing scholarship, increase research and evidence- based practice funding, increase the visibility of the School, enhance the quality of the overall academic program, and mentor faculty and students in research and practice. An endowed chair in the area of child health will strengthen the content in the School of Nursing s existing courses, work with doctoral students interested in a program of research in the area, and continue to develop the faculty member s own program of research. This position is tenured/tenure- track, carries a 9- month appointment and reports to the Dean. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience. QUALIFICATIONS Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Missouri. An earned doctorate in nursing or a related field. A graduate degree (doctoral and/or master s) in nursing. An established track record of federal funding for their research program. Recognized scholarly experience as evidenced by academic accomplishments, publications, and - 1-

Academic and Student Life The University is comprised of 12 colleges and schools and four degree- granting centers, as well as the Madrid Campus. The programs are nationally recognized for their innovative and comprehensive curricula. Students are enrolled from across the country and around the world. 5 The School of Nursing was the first nursing school in the United States to establish a second degree Accelerated BSN program, first Accelerated Master of Science in Nursing program in Missouri, and the first nursing school in Missouri to offer a PhD program in nursing. The School became the first in the nation to offer complete master's degree programs online and the second in the state to offer the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). The Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing degree program is an intellectually stimulating, innovative, and student- friendly PhD program that prepares RNs as scholars and beginning nurse researchers/scientists. Students who complete the PhD program contribute to the continued development of the discipline and profession of nursing. Graduates are prepared to: Articulate multiple perspectives on knowledge development and a broad understanding of research methods; critique and synthesize nursing and interdisciplinary knowledge in a substantive area of inquiry; generate and disseminate nursing knowledge through research that is innovative, rigorously conducted, ethically sound, and culturally sensitive and steward the discipline by serving as leaders in health care and academic settings. The DNP is a practice- focused doctoral degree that educates nurses to become expert clinicians, leaders in health policy, and catalysts for improved health care delivery within an interprofessional environment. This online program is available to students who possess a master's degree in an advanced practice area such as a nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist. Throughout the years, School of Nursing faculty members have played a pivotal role in advancing the growing field of nursing research. Current faculty research focuses on measures to test feeding tube placement, sustaining exercise in middle age and elderly, falls and fear of falling, adolescent mothers, asthma and pain in children, dance therapy, autism, sleep, pediatric palliative care, natural disasters, taste post- cancer and other topics. The School of Nursing is located at the Medical Center end of campus of Saint Louis University. The Medical Center end of campus also includes the School of Medicine, School of Public Health and Social Justice, Doisy College of Health Sciences, Center for Health Care Ethics, Center for Interprofessional Education (IPE) and Research and the Center for Advanced Dental Education. - 5-
