Fill all current tenuretrack faculty vacancies, including 3 endowed chairs by a) Actively recruit at 6 or more national meetings per year and encourage faculty to make personal contacts and follow-up calls. b) Ensure faculty member access to funds for recruitment activities at professional meetings, e.g., displays, receptions, potential candidate meals, etc. c) Develop a system of follow-up for contacts with potential faculty members. d) Develop partnerships and/or joint appointments with other HSC Colleges to recruit strong researchers in focal areas: aging, cancer, patient safety, high quality care, etc. e) Recruit and hire non-nursing scientists, as appropriate, for faculty positions. f) Attract established researcher (including research teams) by offering competitive start-up packages. g) Introduce established researcher to UF and CON by inviting them to present their research (target 3 or more per year). 6/2012 Ongoing On-going Fall /2010 6/ in 2010; 3 in 2011; 3 in 2012 Begin in 2010

Achieve and maintain at least $3 M in research funding, including $2 M in NIH, per year in extramural awards by a) Revise P&T criteria to raise expectations for funded research at all levels. b) Conduct a resource assessment including a list of contacts for collaborative research opportunities and subject recruitment (e.g., VA, JAX communities, clinical partners in JAX and GNV). c) Identify new research opportunities and resources associated with CTSI and other HSC Institutes and Centers. d) Enhance pre-and post-award preparation assistance for faculty (e.g., IRB support, grant management specialists, statisticians). e) Develop a standing scientific review group with experienced researchers both in and outside the College that can work with PIs to enhance the pre-grant submission process. f) Initiate activities to foster greater awareness of and support for the College research mission (i.e., research retreats, GFM reports, Dept. meeting discussions, journal clubs, and links to research groups in other colleges). g) Evaluate teaching-research time balance (e. g., one semester per year to focus on research, team teaching to provide blocks of time for research during semesters).
