1 An Invitation to Apply: Dean, College of Nursing Texas Woman s University College of Nursing invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Nursing. The Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the College and reports to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs. Responsibilities include academic management, fiscal management, quality assurance, faculty and staff evaluation, grants and research oversight, program planning and evaluation, community relations and resource development. Work is performed under minimal supervision with evaluation based on the effective operation of the administrative function. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures. RESPONSIBILITIES Position responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provides academic leadership for the College. Actively works to promote collaborative partnerships to include: interdisciplinary, interinstitutional, and health-related partnerships. Plans, coordinates and evaluates short and long-range goals and objectives for the College. Provides leadership in establishing and meeting enrollment goals. Establishes, implements and monitors policies and procedures for the College. Provides information and makes recommendations to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs on all matters related to the College. Serves as liaison between the College and TWU central administration. Directs and evaluates the work of the associate deans and other direct subordinates within the College. Provides leadership and guidance in faculty and staff searches and supports access, equity and diversity. -1-

2 Recommends faculty for promotion and tenure consideration. Formulates and administers the College budget. Sets priorities for resource allocation and utilization. Works with appropriate departments to develop external funding. Responsible for establishing job standards for subordinate staff and effectively evaluating staff under charge. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies, procedures and regulations. QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and professional experience: An earned doctoral degree in nursing or a related field (in which case a masters degree in nursing is required). Eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Texas. A minimum of five years of academic administrative leadership experience and achievement in positions of progressively-increasing responsibility in higher education RN program. A minimum of three years teaching in a higher education RN program. An established record of teaching, research and service at a level consistent with TWU requirements for the rank of full professor. Substantial experience in: organizational management, curricular development, budget management, research facilitation and funding, policy management, academic leadership and management of instruction. Ability to plan, direct, and evaluate a complex operation for the accomplishment of long-term and short-term goals of the University. Ability to promote collaborative partnerships including: interdisciplinary, inter-institutional and health-related partnerships. Ability to communicate and present information effectively, both orally and in writing, at all levels within the University, to public groups, and to the TWU Board of Regents. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff and the public. The first time pass rate on the national licensing exam is 97%. The College operates on all three campuses. The Dean resides on the Denton campus; each campus, including Denton, has an Associate Dean who has operational responsibility the nursing programs on that campus. The next accreditation visit will be in Fall College of Nursing Faculty In Fall 2012, the College of Nursing had 99 full-time faculty members and 3 part-time faculty members. College of Nursing Student Enrollments as of Fall 2012 In Fall 2012, the College of Nursing enrollment was comprised of 988 undergraduate students (834 BS and 154 RN), 759 master s degree students, 35 DNP students and 125 PhD students. -5-
