1 Child & Adolescent Clinical Psychologist 1. POSITION JOB TITLE: CAMHS Clinical Psychologist REPORTS TO: Team Leader CAMHS FUNCTION: CAMHS DATE: April PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide a community/outpatient based mental health service (in the Taranaki Region) to children, youth and their families referred to CAMHS. This will include provision of a comprehensive assessment, clinical management plan and ongoing therapeutic intervention. This will be achieved in partnership with the whole family (as appropriate). There will be a need, as appropriate for psychometric testing. This position will sit within and be very much a part of the CAMHS MDT which is aiming to be a centre of excellence within the Specialty CAMHS field. The service utilises a key worker approach to service delivery. 3. DIMENSIONS Number of people reporting to you Financial limits authority Operating Budget Current Year n/a n/a n/a 4. ACCOUNTABILITIES Principal CAMHS Team Accountabilities Provision of a quality, comprehensive mental health assessment. Associated Measures / KPI s Means : 1. All assessments will be completed with another member of the CAMHS MDT, using a comprehensive CAMHS assessment tool. 2. All new assessments will then be presented to the MDT before a clinical management plan is signed by the client, family/whanau. 3. All clinical management plans will be discussed and reviewed with the MDT on a 3 monthly basis (at least). 4. All referrers will receive an initial assessment report followed by regular updates as In management supervision with Team Leader. MDT presentation and feedback. 6 monthly case note audits. Feedback from client/family/whanau.

You will be familiar with the use of a wide range of outcome measurement tools (e.g. HONOSCA, SDQ, CBCL and YSR). 7. You will be familiar with developmental psychopathology and how such issues impact on behaviour in school, home and community. Provision of psychometric testing when required Means : 1. You will be able to use psychometric instruments used with children and adolescents (including: Psycho Educational, Neuro Psychological and projective/personality instruments. 2. You will be able to integrate testing and clinical information into an evaluation to address DSM1V diagnosis and treatment planning. In peer group supervision. Audit. Will offer therapeutic intervention to children, young people and their families/whanau 1. You will have a range of therapeutic skills based upon Best practice models (for instance CBT, Family Therapy) and across all developmental levels. 2. All interventions will be within Tikanga Best practice models. 3. We operate a key-worker approach to intervention, recognising the need for clients to have continuity of approach. 4. Be able to offer consultation to schools and other community agencies. Regular presentation of cases within the MDT. Completion and analysis of outcome measurement tools with client/family/whanau. Direct feedback from client/family/whanau. Consultation/liaison with services which work with children and young people 1. Each team member holds a school portfolio and will liaise with staff within the portfolio on a regular basis. 2. Be readily available to other services and encourage networking and working relationships as appropriate. Through MDT discussion. In supervision with Team Leader. 3 1. Fully participate in team activities ie Team meetings, planning/away days, joint assessments, supportive tasks. 2. Contribute to the ongoing research and development sessions within the team. In supervision with Team Leader. In MDT/peer feedback. Through liaison with Professional; Advisor. Participate in provision of risk assessments 1. Will be included in roster for regular risk assessment slots. 2. Will also need to be flexible on occasion to assist with unplanned assessments (as appropriate). MDT feedback. In supervision with Team Leader. Ongoing professional development 1. Maintains and updates professional skills as necessary by seeking out learning opportunities within CAMHS, the DHB and other training providers. 2. Will identify areas for further development and potential learning situations. 3. Will work within the parameters of the Clinical Scope of Practice & Will adhere to the Code of Ethics for NZ Psychologists. In supervision with T/L. Demonstrate a commitment to continuous quality assurance to achieve and maintain the performance standards set by the organisation. 2. Unit quality plans and targets are known and supported. 3. 6 6. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Education, Skill and Experience Must a registered Clinical Psychologist with a Clinical Psychologist Scope of Practice. Must have at least two years experience in a CAMH service. Preferable post graduate training in Child & Adolescent Mental Health and an understanding or rural mental health issues Skills and experience in use of computer systems, and the Microsoft office suite, internet and .
