2 MISSION STATEMENT The Butterfly Foundation (Butterfly) is Australia s largest not for profit organisation dedicated to supporting people with eating disorders and negative body image and the people who care for them. MISSION The Butterfly Foundation is dedicated to bringing about change to the culture, policy and practice in the prevention, treatment and support of those affected by eating disorders and negative body image. OBJECTIVES In using a collaborative approach to identify, build and facilitate strategic partnerships, to: Promote positive body image and associated healthy behaviours; Encourage hope and help-seeking through education and awareness; Advocate excellence and consistency in the culture of care and support for people with eating disorders and encourage a better understanding of the complexities of eating disorders and the need for a compassionate, flexible and holistic response; Educate and connect the community, health providers, government and other agencies to assist in excellence and consistency in the culture of care; Facilitate the development of effective models of prevention and care for people at risk of or with eating disorders; Operate a financially sustainable national foundation for future generations; Increase access for all sufferers and carers in Australia to effective treatment and support; Ensure that everyone in the Butterfly team feels recognised for their skills and experience, is fully engaged and supported in making their contributions, and that the organisation is providing opportunities for professional growth and development.

3 1. Overview of the Role The National Eating Disorders Collaboration (NEDC) is a national collaboration of organisations and individuals with an interest, expertise and experience in the promotion, prevention, early intervention, treatment and management of eating disorders. The primary purpose of the NEDC project is to bring together Eating Disorder stakeholders with experts in mental health, public health, health promotion, education, research and media as well practitioners and those with a lived experience of eating disorders to develop and maintain a nationally consistent approach to the prevention and management of Eating Disorders. The Website and Online Communications Officer supports the NEDC staff team to implement the communications strategy, website strategy and social media strategy of the NEDC. The post holder will be responsible for website maintenance and development, coordinating and further developing online communication, and ensuring that all NEDC communications (internal and external) are appropriately and consistently branded. 2. Relationships The position reports to the Project Manager (National Manager; Programs and Practice). 3. Role Objectives/Responsibilities Website, Social Media and Online Communications: Participate in the development and implementation of internal NEDC (membership and committee) communication strategies. Develop and deliver new resources in non-traditional formats such as videos, infographics and interactive web content. Source new e-communication tools and programs, digital and social media tools and programs as required. Liaise with external design and development professionals for website and other online platforms as required. Maintain the specialist and professional website that positions the NEDC at the forefront of internet communications on eating disorders in Australia: o In liaison with content writers, maintain and update website content to keep it current. o Carry out day to day website administration. o Prepare analytics reports on website usage and make recommendations for optimisation, user experience improvement and risk management. o Evaluate the website s success against objectives on an ongoing basis and provide recommendations for continuous improvement. Coordinate and further develop online and e-communication: o Administer all NEDC e-news/e-bulletins, social media platforms and e-communities in consultation with and as directed by the Project Manager. o Produce regular communications for NEDC members, stakeholders and community members in line with communication plans. o Develop or source new content. o Monitor and manage all content and engagement from external users. o Work closely and under direction from internal and external advisors to manage sensitive content and possible issues. o Work strictly to Mindframe Guidelines for social media and mental health and eating disorders.

4 Other: Assist with the planning and delivery of NEDC events and with NEDC representation, including attendance and hands on support during events. Assist with the review and update of existing FAQs, information sheets, NEDC brochures, infographics and other collateral and resources for public distribution as required. Participate in training opportunities, informal and formal, and undertake continuing education as recommended. Assist with other duties as required. 4. Other Requirements At all times: Conduct yourself in a professional manner. It is a requirement of Butterfly that all employees have a valid and current national police check / Criminal History Check. It is a requirement of Butterfly Support Services and Education Services positions that employees have a valid and current Working With Children Check. 5. Skills and Knowledge To be successful in this position, the post-holder will need to be able to demonstrate the behaviours and the essential skills and knowledge listed below. In addition, the desirable skills and knowledge listed will be beneficial to success in this position. Essential Skills/Knowledge Minimum qualification formal qualification or equivalent experience in web platform development/management, digital technology or similar. Experience in communications coordination and in implementing communications, website and social media strategies. Demonstrated experience in a website maintenance role, including content administration, SEO and use of analytics and other measures of digital performance. Demonstrated understanding of the communication styles and needs of difference audiences but particularly young people, coupled with knowledge of the latest social media/ e-communication /web applications trends and developments. Ability to develop and deliver information and resources in non-traditional formats such as videos, infographics and interactive web content, to engage a wide variety of audiences. Highly self-motivated with the capability to manage your own learning and projects, delivering agreed outcomes on deadline, as well as contribute to team goals. A strong customer service orientation, with excellent people skills. A basic understanding of what the terms positive body image and healthy eating behaviours mean, coupled with the ability to learn quickly.
