Applications 1.1 Applicants must complete an application form [Z 83] that must be duly completed with all the required information as requested on the form. The application form Z 83 must be originally signed and dated by the applicant to ensure that the application is a legitimate application. The application form is available at all schools, district offices, WCED s website and also at the Walk-in Centre of the Head Office of the WCED. The application forms are attached to this vacancy list. Applications that are accompanied by a completed DPE 1, A 2 and/or any other application form will not be considered. 1.2 Applicants must ensure that their PERSAL numbers, where possible, are indicated on their application forms or CVs. 1.3 Applicants must include the following documents with each application: Applicants must submit a detailed up to date Curriculum Vitae (CV) containing, inter alia, a complete chronological record of teacher training and teaching and other experience which indicate the exact dates of previous employment (starting date: day, month and year) and (end date: day, month and year), as well as the names and telephone numbers of at least three persons willing to act as referees. Applicants must submit certified copies of diploma and degree certificates, SACE certificate (or proof of registration) or payslip that indicate the SACE number and not the persal number; valid driver s licence and identity document (ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS WILL NOT BE RETURNED.) REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT 2.1 Citizenship Non-RSA citizens/permanent resident permit holders must submit a copy of his/her Permanent Resident Permit with his/her application. 2.2 Experience Teaching experience, as well as evidence of appropriate management experience, is taken into account for appointment to vacancies on Post Level 3 and higher. At least two years of the prescribed period of experience must have been spent within the borders of South Africa or at an educational institution recognised by one of the previous education departments. 2.3 Qualifications In order to be eligible for appointment, all applicants must have at least a recognised three-year qualification (REQV 13), which must include appropriate training as a teacher The evaluation of a teacher s qualifications, so as to determine his or her suitability for the post and the relative education qualification value (REQV) of his or her qualifications, will be done in accordance with the measures contained in the criteria for the evaluation of qualification in South Africa. Please note: Foreign qualifications are subject to evaluation by the national Department of Education in Pretoria. 2.4 SACE registration (or proof of registration) Registration with the South African Council of Educators (SACE) is compulsory Where the applicant is not in possession of a certified copy of a SACE certificate, one of the following will be accepted: (a) Acknowledgement of receipt from SACE indicating that the applicant applied for his or her SACE certificate prior to the closing date for applications for posts advertised in this vacancy list; (b) Any other proof obtained from SACE that the applicant is registered; (c) A certified copy of the applicant s latest salary slip on which is indicated a salary deduction for SACE registration and the applicant s SACE registration number and not a persal number next to the deduction.

General Information: NB: Please read the instructions carefully before applying: Appointments are subject to a security clearance and applicant s suitability check, which includes qualifications, previous employment, criminal records, credit verification and reference verification. The Department will communicate only with applicants who have been shortlisted. Short-listed applicants will be expected to be available for interviews at a date, time and place determined by the WCED. Short-listed applicants will be required to complete an assignment. Successful applicants will be appointed for a probationary period of 12 months. The WCED reserves the right not to make an appointment to any of the advertised posts. Personnel in excess on the same salary level will receive preference, if they meet the advertised post requirements. Job purpose: To plan, co-ordinate and evaluate safety and security at all WCED institutions i.e. ECD, ABET, ELSEN, GET and FET Competencies: The successful candidate must have the following proven experience, knowledge and skills in order to successfully function this in this specific post. 16 Post No: I 5 Post Title: Deputy Chief Education Specialist: Economic and Management Sciences (EMS) Senior Phase Directorate: General Education and Training (GET), Head Office, Cape Town Remuneration: R R per annum R R (Salary level 11) (MMS all inclusive package) Job purpose: To facilitate curriculum and teacher development support initiatives relevant to Economic and Management Sciences in the Senior Phase in accordance with provincial and national policies. Requirements: An appropriate bachelor s degree or equivalent qualification backed by a minimum of 7 years teaching experience. A sound knowledge of and insight into the National Curriculum Statement: Curriculum and Assessment Policy Grades R-12 (NCS), including the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statements especially for the relevant school subjects, the National policy pertaining to the programme and promotion requirements of the National Curriculum Statement Grades R-12, and the National Protocol for Assessment Grades R-12. Knowledge, understanding and relevant experience of the subject Economic and Management Sciences as well as Business, Management and Commerce subjects. 22 Post No: I 8 Post Title: Senior Education Specialist: Programme Coordinator: Intermediate and Senior Phase Remuneration: R R per annum Directorate: Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute, Nooiensfontein Road, Kuils River. Minimum Requirements: Educational qualifications: An appropriate 4-year teaching degree (REQV14) or an appropriate B-degree plus a professional teaching qualification. A qualification as a teacher at Intermediate or Senior Phase level. Minimum of 7 years teaching experience. Minimum of 5 years teaching at Intermediate Phase level. Proven experience of school leadership, at least 3 consecutive years, as a Head of Department or Senior Teacher leading a Phase with significant improvement in diagnostic testing at school level.
