Diagnose and manage obstetric emergencies in the absence of a doctor i.e. Eclampsia APH etc. Identify high risk clients during ante-partum and post-partum periods and manage them or refer them according to hospital policy. Develop mission and vision and objectives for obstetric unit. Develop Implement Review obstetric policies and procedures. Participate in Perinatal Mortality review meeting. Know South African Nursing Council rules and regulations pertaining to obstetrics. Develop and implement in-service education and quality improvement programs. Act as an Advocate for client utilizing Batho Pele principles. Form part of the multi-disciplinary team Take part in all obstetrics program i.e. PMTCT, BMFI and RHC reproductive health. Identify training needs for the personnel and implement EPMDS for the personnel. Practice participative management by assisting with relief duties of the supervisor. Liaise with all departments within the institution maintain & monitor stock and supplies. Attend meeting held in the institution. Ensure compliance to National Core Standards.
