1 Town of Boulder Junction SUMMER REC PROGRAM Hello to all residents and visitors of the Boulder Junction area. We are happy to be bringing the Summer Rec Program back for the summer of The following is a preliminary schedule to what this year s program will include. Please check back in June for the final schedule with exact events, times, and event prices. My name is Lanette Lani Nelson and I am excited to be the new Summer Recreation Program Director. I, myself, grew up in Boulder Junction and attended the Rec Program, with Mr. Ken Roeder, and know the importance of the program. My two teenage children and myself will staff the program. I am an elementary school teacher with coaching and after school program experience. Both of my children are certified Life Guards with guarding and swim instructor experience as well as being a student athlete themselves. In addition, we all have CPR and First Aid training and are looking forward to working with the area children. Again this year we invite your youngsters, ages 6 to13, to attend the summer program. The following is a preview of what this year s program will include. Kids Ball and T Ball age boys and girls will be instructed on some mornings, on the basics of baseball. It is not to replace normal practices but we hope it will add to the children s fun and learning experiences. After practices, we will do special events and activities that we would like them to stay and participate in for the rest of the day. The swimming program will be on various days again this year and as you will notice, the lessons are given at different beaches on different days. We are hoping that the water temp will rise quickly in order to get lessons in as soon as possible. Please be sure to check the schedule so you know where we will be on each day. It is very important that parents look at the schedule each morning to find out what we are doing for the day, the costs of the events, and the times we are leaving and returning. Please note that we have a Daily Fee to help keep the Boulder Rec. Program running. (Please send CASH for the Daily Fee, NO CHECKS) Also, many of our rain day activities cost money, so, if it looks like rain or if it s cold outside, make sure your child has money for that event. Usually, if it looks like rain we will put an alternative schedule and costs on a board in the entry of the Community Building. If you have any questions or helpful comments, please, don t hesitate to call us. This year we will run the program for six weeks. Again, CHECK THE SCHEDULE DAILY FOR COSTS, TIMES AND ANY CHANGES If there is a need to contact us, you can leave a message at the community building ( ) and we will get back to you as soon as we can. We hope you re able to come and have some fun with us for at least a few days this summer! Thank you for supporting your program! All children must register in the community building and complete the consent form provided on the following page prior to attending the program. Thanks, The Nelsons
