2 Location The main campus of University College Dublin is situated at Belfield, a 132-hectare site 5km south of the centre of Dublin city. This campus is an attractively landscaped complex of modern architectural buildings, accommodating most colleges and schools of the university as well as its student residences and numerous leisure and sporting facilities. About the College University College Dublin (UCD) is a dynamic, modern university where cutting-edge research and scholarship provide a stimulating intellectual environment - the ideal surroundings for learning and discovery. Established in 1854, the university played a key role in the history of the modern Irish State and today it plays a leading part in shaping Ireland s future. Accommodation ATC has exclusive use of all the en-suite accommodation on campus. UCD s modern accommodation, Glenomena and Roebuck Hall, consist of single en-suite rooms which are grouped in apartments accommodating 6 people. There is also wifi available in Glenomena. All apartments include a fully fitted kitchen and living room. The bedrooms are spacious and have a large wardrobe, a desk and chair and additional storage under the bed. The rooms are supplied with bed linen and towels. Lessons Each lesson is 45 minutes in duration and the standard programme for junior students is 15 hours per week. Classes are available at all levels from Elementary (A1) to Advanced (C1). Classes for junior students will have a maximum of 15 students, but you can expect an average of 13 students per class. Class times are divided so that students receive lessons from more than one teacher, two per day allowing them the benefit of more than one voice and teaching style and having a team of teachers liaise on their learning paths. There are numerous comfortable modern, spacious classrooms available in the college.

3 Sport & Recreational Facilities UCD offers excellent sports facilities including two indoor sports halls where students can play volleyball or basketball, indoor football or use the climbing wall. There are also outdoor hockey and astro turf pitches for soccer, rugby or team games as well as a number of tennis courts. In 2012 UCD will open a 50m swimming pool, it is estimated this will be open from March. Activities & Excursions The programme in University College Dublin includes two half day cultural excursions and one full day excursion per week. University College Dublin offers a wide range of on-site activities every afternoon and an evening programme 7 nights a week. The full day excursion is to cities and places of cultural importance around Ireland. The activity programme provides young students with an opportunity to absorb some of Ireland s rich heritage in a fun and relaxed way. All entrance fees and a weekly bus pass are included. A residential evening activity programme rounds off each day and includes: discos, Irish Nights (Ceili), karaoke, talent nights, treasure hunts and activities such as sport tournaments, Mr. an Mrs. competition and casino night and will ensure that each student is busy from breakfast to bedtime. Please see the sample programme for details. Student Welfare The welfare of our students is of paramount importance to us and we offer a high standard of care and supervision to all our students. We provide nominated ATC staff members to act as guardians to our individual students that travel without group leaders. It is very important for us that our students remain happy and healthy throughout their stay. Our management at UCD, along with our teachers and activity leaders will ensure that all students receive the best possible care and attention so as to maximize their experience during their study holiday.

4 Campus Living Laundry There is a self service launderette available for the students use at UCD. The machines take coins, and washing powder can be purchased locally or students may bring their own. A typical wash and dry costs approximately 4. Cleaning Bedrooms, kitchen and living rooms will be cleaned daily and rubbish removed by the cleaning staff during the week. During occupancy, towels will be replaced twice weekly and linen changed weekly. Rooms will be fully serviced between occupancies. Safe A safe is available for the security of students belongings at UCD. Students are encouraged to store large sums of money or valuables here. Travel tickets and passports are normally kept in the safe for the duration of the students stay. Fire Safety All students and groups leaders are to attend a mandatory fire briefing. Any breach of fire safety regulations may result in a fine and expulsion from the course. Student Identity Card In order to co-operate with the security and safety standards at UCD, ATC Language and Travel will supply all students with a student identity card. Students must carry their card with them at all times. Security There will be a 24 hour security guard monitoring the campus, dealing with security and related matters and responding to fire alarm activations. In order to co-operate with college staff, when asked students will be required to identify themselves and respond to legitimate directions relating to safety, security and good order. An ATC Language and Travel staff member will assist UCD security in the event of noise disturbances, incidents involving language school participants or medical emergencies. Deliveries Mail and other deliveries for students will be passed onto the Centre Manager for distribution. Phones There are public phones located throughout the college for the use of students. Damages All students will be expected to pay a 50 damage deposit that will be collected by the group leaders upon arrival. This will be retained throughout the duration of the group s stay, the deposit will be returned in full prior to departure less the cost of any damages caused by the group. Keys Electronic key cards will be provided to each student. Lost key cards can be replaced by UCD staff at the cost of 10 each.

Telephone: TBA Fax: TBA Emergency Pager: Classes 3 hours of class per day from Monday to Friday on alternate weekly morning (from 9:00 to 12:30 with a 30 minute break) and afternoon (from 14:30 to 17:45 with 15 minute break) basis. All textbooks and other learning materials will be made available to the students, with a graded certificate and end of course report being presented on conclusion of their stay. The maximum number of students per class is 15. All levels are available according to the Council of Europe levels from Elementary: A1 to Advanced: C1. Statistics UCD welcomes a range of nationalities such as Italian, Spanish, French, German and Russian. The centre welcomes students from 11 to 17 years old from 29 th June to 25 th August Closed Groups to the end of September. Transfers On arrival at the airport, students will be met by an ATC Language & Travel representative who will escort them to UCD. Dublin International Airport is located approximately 20 kms from UCD, with the average journey time being 40 minutes depending on traffic. An airport transfer can only be arranged when flight information is received in writing by ATC Language & Travel at least 10 days prior to arrival. ATC Language & Travel cannot take responsibility for the students arrival transfer unless this procedure is followed. Medical Information In the case of a medical emergency, an ATC Language and Travel member of staff will assist in seeking the appropriate treatment. Any trips to the doctor, dentist or hospital will have to be paid in full by the student (including transport where necessary). All students will be accompanied by a group leader.
