2 Why study this programme? This programme explores the complexity and diversity of business in an increasingly interconnected world. Students engage in critical analysis of international business and investigate the international context of business today. Drawing on current University of Greenwich research and international academic theory, there is a strong emphasis on real-life case studies and professional management application. This MA helps students to develop skills in assessing the global environment for business, identifying new international business opportunities and analysing international markets and industries. The programme provides students who may not have a first degree in business with a grounding in business management, followed by specialised international business courses. The aims of the programme are to: Provide students with an advanced understanding of international business organisations, their management and the changing external context in which they operate Develop skills in international business and management at a professional or equivalent level Develop the ability of students to apply knowledge and understanding of international business and management to complex issues, both systematically and creatively, to improve business and management practice Enhance lifelong learning skills and personal development, so as to be able to work with self-direction and originality and to contribute to business and society at large Develop leadership potential through critical reflection following selfmanagement, managing others, and the understanding of business. The Business School delivers innovative ways to learn: traditional teaching is supported by online resources within the virtual learning environment, and this is supplemented by business simulation exercises and practical games. Students also have access to industry experts through guest presentations and lecturers, and are given the opportunity to visit companies.

Our staff s wealth of international business knowledge and experience in industry is combined with a commitment to support the learning of each student. Staff are involved with businesses and the local community, so they provide practical experience as part of their teaching. The Sunday Times University Guide 2011 has rated Greenwich the top university in London for teaching excellence. The Greenwich Campus is based on a World Heritage Site on the banks of the River Thames. The university s largest campus, it is centred on three baroque buildings designed by Sir Christopher Wren at the end of the 17th century. The surrounding town is a bustling mix of markets, shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as some of the most famous museums and tourist attractions in the country. By train, central London is only a few minutes away. What courses will you study? The programme of study comprises 180 credits, with the taught components completed over one academic year. The programme is essentially divided into two parts. Part 1 provides the basic functional knowledge required to study the international aspects of business for students who probably do not have a business degree. Following this, increasingly more advanced and specifically international business topics are introduced. Part 2 consists of individual research and a dissertation. To progress to Part 2, students must have passed all courses in Part 1. 4 Key facts Attendance: 1 year full-time (plus dissertation) Entry requirements: Applicants should have: A good relevant first degree, equivalent to a UK 2.2, from a recognised university. as their first language must have an IELTS score of 6.0 or a TOEFL score of 550/213. 5 Career opportunities This programme offers opportunities in management in multinational firms, small- or medium-sized exporters and local or central government agencies involved in business development, consultancies and media companies. Employers of our graduates include ABN AMRO, Accenture, CNN, Hertz and Kerry Foods. Classes are a mixture of lectures, tutorials, presentations and videos, the medium depending on the teaching requirements of the course. Students are expected to attend taught courses on a regular basis. Attendance is monitored throughout the year, both for core and option courses. The assessment procedures tend to reflect the overall objective of each course; they include class presentations, tests, essays, problemsolving tasks, case studies, examinations and a dissertation. Teaching and assessment Students are assessed through a wide range of assessment methods and procedures, namely individual and group presentations, tests, reports and assignments, individual online journals, article reviews, examinations and a project.
