2 Why study this programme? This programme will provide you with the opportunity to study for two Master s awards within one year and give you the experience of undertaking a work placement. It will develop your range of intellectual and practical competencies and enable you to become an effective specialist in the global knowledge economy. The programme provides students who may not have a first degree in business with a grounding in business management, followed by specialised international business courses and an independent specialist project. Once you have successfully completed your studies at both institutions, you will be awarded two degrees. The entire programme is delivered in English and no knowledge of French is required. As a student on this programme, you will: Acquire knowledge and competencies relevant to operating in a global business environment Undertake advanced study of international business organisations and their management, while acquiring the ability to systematically and creatively analyse, critique and apply knowledge and understanding of complex international business and management issues Develop interpersonal skills so you are able to interact effectively with a range of specialists and implement solutions effectively and efficiently. 3 France Business School, Poitiers France Business School France Business School was established in 2012, following the merger of four well-known French Grandes Ecoles of Management. It has five campuses in France (in Amiens, Brest, Clermont-Ferrand, Poitiers and Tours) and two overseas campuses. 5 A brief introduction to the courses Foundations of Scholarship This course will provide you with competencies that will support you through the process of studying for a Master s degree and will be transferable and important for your future professional career. Financial and Management Accounting It is essential that managers understand the significant differences between financial and management accounting and how they serve a number of different constituencies interested in the financial performance of a firm. This course focuses on accounting as it is applied to the management of business and involves an understanding of the relationship between accounting and other non-financial disciplines. Global Business This course discusses international business dilemmas from a business network perspective, giving you a clear and thorough view of the most important aspects of international business. You should be capable of understanding the relevance and importance of business networks and how they affect global business relations within and between organisations. Sustainable Investment and Trade There is an increasing demand for both firms and investors to understand the financial implications of sustainable investment and trade. This course will give you the knowledge and skills required to include core values of sustainable investment in asset allocation, stock selection and portfolio structure in managerial decision making. Research Methods This course is designed to help you successfully complete your Master slevel dissertation. It will give you an understanding of research design and the practical application of relevant business research methods. It will expose you to different research philosophies, techniques and methodologies, and advance your capacity to identify and exploit research opportunities. You will develop the criticalthinking skills necessary to design and implement a consistent research project, collect and analyse data, and conduct work autonomously. The skills and knowledge you acquire on this course will be equally relevant when you write reports in your career as a manager. International Business Risk Management and the International Economy Conducting international business involves particular financial risks. The techniques required to control and reduce risk are important in managing international firms. This course considers the financial issues specific to international business, such as risk management of exchange rates and investment. It focuses on the products utilised to manage these risks, on corporate financial management by managers of firms in an international environment, and on the financing of international trade. Branding Strategy in International Business Marketers are required to understand consumer demand and develop and deliver products and services to satisfy those demands within the cultural contexts of specific markets. At the same time, they must develop strong brands with which consumers identify and which respond

6 to the material, psychological and social requirements of consumer groups. This course will give you an understanding of the concepts of consumer behaviour, with particular emphasis on psychological, economic, sociological and cultural concepts. It also explores the ways in which companies develop brands to respond to consumer demands and expectations. Managing Internationalisation with Data Analysis and Interpretation This course provides a comprehensive variety of data management and analysis solutions that support managers in their daily activities. It will help you to develop skills in analysis, interpretation and communication, and in accessing and using quality data to make better business decisions. These will enhance the quality of firms decisions based on information and practice-informed data and in conjunction with managerial judgement and ethics. Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Marketing and Export Strategies of SMEs SMEs constitute the vast majority of international business activity in terms of number of companies. This course explores issues of innovation and entrepreneurship with a particular focus on SMEs and considers the theory and development of entrepreneurship. It also examines the process of establishing, developing and internationalising a business and explores export strategies, foreign direct investment and alliances and networks among SMEs. Corporate Clusters and Knowledge Clusters are geographic locations where companies of various sizes, stages of development, products and processes interact to their mutual advantage. The common source of competitive advantage for clusters is knowledge. Knowledge is transferred and disseminated through cooperation among firms. Within clusters, there are commonalities among companies, such as the same product or service. This course focuses on the rationality of clusters, the strategies that companies in a cluster may adopt, and the knowledge management that is required. It also explores the interventionist role of governments in sustaining clusters. Managing Internationalisation with Decision Support Systems This course explores the manager s responsibilities for problem solving and decision making. It examines how international firms can use information systems and decision sciences to make decisions. It focuses on data, information and knowledge by utilising a series of information and decision sciences tools and techniques to develop structured, semi-structured and unstructured decision support and expert systems. Dissertation The dissertation is an extensive research project. The subject should arise from your own personal area of interest and it may be on any topic within the area of study. Work Placement The work placement is an obligatory part of the programme and may be carried out in any country for a minimum of four months. It may be waived under certain conditions, depending on your prior professional experience.

7 Career opportunities You may pursue your management career in a wide range of multinational companies and non-government and public sector organisations, as well as consultancies. Employers may also include small- or medium-sized exporting organisations and local or central government agencies involved in business development. Teaching and assessment Each of the courses is assessed through a wide range of methods, including assignments, reflective reports, group projects and presentations, examinations and an individual dissertation. If you were educated in a language other than English and/or in a country where English speakers are in a minority, you should have a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 in each skill) or an equivalent rating in another Secure English Language Test.
