Valeti, MD, FACC, Cardiovascular Division, University of Minnesota Course Purpose Faced with the constant emergence of new clinical evidence, ongoing advances in therapeutics, and ever-evolving reimbursement systems, cardiovascular healthcare providers are often challenged to determine and recommend the best therapies for their patients. This 1.5 day conference offers participants an in depth examination of the current controversies in cardiovascular care with the goal of helping clinicians provide the best care for patients, improve the health of populations and rein in costs. Educational Objectives At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be better able to: Recognize that clinical problem-solving requires an open mind and willingness to accept that situations are not always what they seem to be Describe new trends in cardiovascular technology and their applications to patient care Determine the best advanced therapy for patients with atrial fibrillation: Ablation, Anticoagulation or Surgery Differentiate patients that are best served by TAVR from those who are too sick for TAVR Determine the best therapy for patients with multivessel disease in diabetes, STEMI, and left main coronary artery stenosis Describe the timing of surgery for patients with degenerative mitral regurgitation Audience This conference is ideal for cardiologists; cardiovascular surgeons; primary care physicians; cardiovascular medical, interventional and surgical trainees; nurse practitioners; physician assistants; cardiac care associates; hospital and clinic nurses, and others interested in offering patients newer treatment options for heart disease. Accreditation The University of Minnesota is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
