1 ADVERTISING ASSISTANCE GRANT GUIDELINES APPLICATION DEADLINE Applications must be received by 5:00 pm on Friday, June 12, Applications and support material must be ed to Dara Silver, Director of Member Services and Grants at PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, in collaboration with 90.5 WSNC Radio, The Winston-Salem Journal, The Winston-Salem Chronicle, EverWondr Network,WXLV ABC45 & WMYV my48, Camel City Dispatch and Forsyth Woman/Forsyth Family negotiates advertising services at discounted rates to The Arts Council s member organizations. SPONSORSHIP The Advertising Assistance Grant program is designed and administered by The Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County and is made possible by 90.5 WSNC Radio, The Winston-Salem Journal, The Winston- Salem Chronicle, EverWondr Network, WXLV ABC45/WMYV my48, Camel City Dispatch and Forsyth Woman/Forsyth Family. PROGRAM TIMELINE Information Session: Friday, May 29 at 1 pm Recommended for all new applicants.the information session will include representatives from each of the advertising partners who will present their offerings and answer questions. It will be held in the Hanes Conference Room, Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts, 251 N. Spruce St., Winston-Salem, NC Application Deadline: Friday, June 12 by 5 pm Review of Application: June 15-19, 2015 Award Notification: June 22, 2015 Funding Period: July 1, June 30, 2016 AAG Guidelines

2 WHO MAY APPLY Eligible Applicants The program is available to Arts Council Member Organizations only. REVIEW PROCESS Applications will be reviewed jointly by The Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County and the media partners. Applications will be evaluated on the criteria below: - Marketing plan and promotional objectives - Timeline of anticipated advertising for the year - Commitment to successful implementation of the organizational marketing plan - Adhearence to previous grantee responsiblities (see below) GRANTEE RESPONSIBILITIES It is the responsibility of the grant recipient to keep in close communication with the media partners. It is the responsibility of the grant recipient to submit advertising materials to the media partners in a timely manner. Grantees must commit to the proposed amount of advertising with each media partner. If marketing budgets change, grantees must contact the media partner and request a change to the approved proposed grant amount. Advertising Assistance recipients must include in all publicity, promotion and printed materials either The Arts Council s logo or the following credit line: Supported by The Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County Failure to fufill the grant responsibilities and funding commitments may effect eligibility for future funding. ADVERTISING MEDIA PARTNER PROGRAMS - RADIO WSNC will donate one underwriting message of the same type for each message the organization purchases. For example, if the organization purchases 30 drive time messages, WSNC will donate 30 drive time messages. WSNC will work with you to write/edit messages. Because WSNC is a public radio station, all messages must conform to station guidelines and be FCC compliant. WSNC will work with you to develop appropriate copy should you have questions. WSNC reserves the right to edit all announcements. WSNC will voice all scripts. Please note that all messages are voice only, no music beds. 3 ADVERTISING MEDIA PARTNER PROGRAMS - PRINT The Winston-Salem Journal will invoice all Run of Press advertisements at 50% off. If special discounts are available to that more favorable to the non-profit organization these discounts will also be passed along to the advertiser. This grant only applies to publications printed in-house by the Winston-Salem Journal. Relish rates are already discounted for $20 per column inch full color. Exclusions: City Guide, Direct Mail, JournalNow.com advertising, Find Local, Winston-Salem Monthly Magazine, Winston- Salem Works Magazine and any sections printed outside of the Winston-Salem Journal. Non-profit rates are available for Journal- Now.com and Winston-Salem Monthly. This program does not cover design, layout, printing, or mailing expenses for advertising not published and distributed by the Winston-Salem Journal or Piedmont Publishing s special publications. Any advertising or service not priced on a rate card must be pre-approved. ArtView: Advertising in the Winston-Salem Journal s ArtView publication is a required component of the Advertising Assistance Program. ArtView is a special section that highlights upcoming Arts Events and profiles various individuals groups that are involved in the vibrant Winston-Salem arts community. The section has been upgraded to a monthly section that runs in the Living/Arts section of the Sunday paper appearing on the first Sunday of the month. Our Sunday paper reaches the largest number of our readers and is the trusted source for arts and entertainment news, reviews, and more. The ad sizes have remained consistent with the quarterly tab section from years past. New! Advertising in ArtView includes an eblast to 43,000 registered users of journalnow.com, sent on the first Sunday of the month in conjunction with the print version. Advertising Assistance recipients are required to meet one of the following ArtView advertising options: Option 1: One (1) X 60 column inches (6 col X 10 ) Full Color included $1,345 Option 2: Two (2) X 30 column inches ( 3 col X 10 ) Full Color included $825 each Option 3: Four (4) X 15 column inches (3 col X 5 ) Full Color included $ each Daily Winston-Salem Journal: Arts Council Advertising Assistance Grant recipients are entitled to 50% off of published rates for ROP (run of paper) in the daily Winston-Salem Journal. Rate card can be downloaded at uploads/2014/04/13-14-wsj-local-retail_alt.pdf. The Chronicle is published every Thursday. A 50% discount has been built into the open display rate. The advertising rate under this program is $8.10 net per column inch for display. Special sections rate is ½ the published rate (rates and ad sizes below). Display Advertising Rates in The Chronicle - $8.10 per column inch. Special Section Advertising Specs and Rates The Chronicle produces special tabloid editions throughout the year. 1. 4 Forsyth Woman and Forsyth Family magazines are monthly publications read by 68,000 readers per month. With more than 1000 distribution points in and around Forsyth County, Forsyth Woman and Forsyth Family magazines are valued resources within the community with 88% of our readers reporting that they utilize the magazines to find businesses to meet their personal and family needs. The following rates are reflective of 20-25% off our standard rates and all advertising includes full color printing and complimentary ad design. Editorial may be earned with certain advertising agreements. All rates are per insertion / per month. Option 1 1 month of advertising. All prices reflect a 20% discount on our standard 1x rates: Full page (8.25 x 10.75) = $800 1/2 page (7.5 x 4.95) = $640 1/3 page (7.5 x 3.25) = $560 1/4 page (3.676 x 4.95) = $480 Option 2 3 months of advertising. All prices reflect a 25% discount on our standard 6x rates. With a minimum of 3 months of advertising, we will include an editorial about your organization. Full page (8.25 x 10.75) = $675 1/2 page (7.5 x 4.95) = $525 1/3 page (7.5 x 3.25) = $450 1/4 page (3.676 x 4.95) = $375 Pre-paid advertising will also benefit from an additional 5% discount. Dual advertising placement in both Forsyth Woman and Forsyth Family magazines will yield an additional 5% discount. Discounts do not apply to Forsyth Woman Engaged. Prices listed in the NonProfit Media Kit are the final, discounted prices. These rates are only available to nonprofit arts groups, Arts Council funded partners and Arts Council member organizations. 5 CCD has created a special advertising promotion for Arts Council Member Organizations, allowing you to access our audience of over 40,000 households for less than half a penny per impression. Discounted rates are $375/week for a large 300x250 pixel ad, or $275/week for a medium 300X125 pixel ad. Purchase two or more consecutive weeks of advertising on CCD and you will also receive a testimonial ad on our weekly podcast, to run concurrently with your ad on our site. Rates for daily ads on CCD are $55/day for a large ad and $40/day for a medium ad. Advertisers with very limited budgets are encouraged to contact CCD directly for potential media sponsorship credit and/or ticket giveaways which can be exchanged for a portion of the advertising fee. All website ads are full color and are prominently displayed throughout our site and all ads include a hyperlink to the webpage of your choice, allowing you the extended benefit of a direct link for our readers to learn more about your event and/ or direct traffic to ticket purchase. Any photo file (ex. Jpeg, png, etc) can be utilized as an ad on CCD and most gif files are accepted as well. Ads on CCD average 150,000 impressions a week, and we have earned a reputation for being a top referral site for our arts-related advertisers. Our philosophy of up-to-the-minute coverage of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County extends to our attitude about advertising - we don t require extended contracts, can have an ad up in minutes, and love to work with our advertising partners to customize an ad package that will help you grab your target audience. WXLV ABC45 and WMYV my48 have not established a maximum funding request. WXLV ABC45 and WMYV my48 will award a matching grant to the partner organizations. The exact size and scope of the grant is dependent on availability on WXLV ABC45 and WMYV my48 within the planned flight and will be confirmed at time of placement. The full award and match must be used for advertising on WXLV ABC45 and WMYV my48 and its digital properties, ABC45.com, my48.tv or mobile platforms. The program covers advertising on WXLV ABC45 and WMYV my48 and its digital platforms. These platforms include TV and website presentations. When the grant is accepted, WXLV ABC45 and WMYV my48 will match: Up to 2 hours of production time to produce one thirty second spot with the partner s marketing message for use on WXLV ABC45 and WMYV my48 and the digital platforms. Up to an equivalent number of announcements based on advertising requirements and availabilities at time of acceptance.
