We cntinue t expand cverage fr ArcGIS mbile applicatins and ArcGIS Runtime SDK prducts. With each release, we assess the platfrms we supprt and functinality in the ArcGIS platfrm t accunt fr changes in technlgies and markets. As a result, we adjust platfrm supprt and functinality at each release based n custmer needs and technlgy trends. The purpse f this dcument is t prvide as much advance ntice as pssible regarding these changes. 2 ArcGIS 10.2 ArcGIS 10.2 fr Desktp [Updated June 27, 2014] The ArcGIS 10.x series f releases will be the last that includes Micrsft Visual Basic fr Applicatins (VBA) cmpatibility. [Updated Nvember 22, 2013] ArcGIS will be the last release that supprts Micrsft Windws Server 2003 and Windws Server 2003 R2 in ArcGIS fr Desktp, ArcGIS Engine, and ArcReader. Windws Server 2008, Windws Server 2008 R2, and Windws Server 2012 will cntinue t be supprted. [Added Octber 14, 2013] ArcGIS will be the last release that supprts Windws XP and Windws Vista in ArcGIS fr Desktp, ArcGIS Engine, and ArcGIS Reader. ArcGIS Runtime SDK fr ios 10.2 will nly supprt ios 6 and ios 7. This means that any apps built with the 10.2 SDK wn't be able t run n ipad 1st gen and iphne 3GS devices; including Esri apps like Cllectr and ArcGIS fr ios. Layer definitin queries allw applicatins t filter GIS data frm map services using the ArcGIS REST API. Layer definitin queries are a part f many ppular peratins such as Exprt Map, Find, and Identify. Please see KB article ID fr further details. Nte: Applicatins built with Esri's Runtime and Web API (JavaScript, Flex, and Silverlight) develper prducts are nt affected by this change. Users are encuraged t mve frm Spatial Data Server feature services int cre ArcGIS fr Server feature services. ArcGIS fr Server feature services in 10.2 have been expanded t include capabilities supprted by Spatial Data Server. 5 ArcSDE and Database [Added July 27, 2014] While we are nt annuncing the deprecatin f the Esri Binary type, this is t serve ntice that new features supprted in SQL spatial type may nt be supprted in the Esri Binary type. Esri recmmends custmers cnsider migrating existing SDEBINARY data t a native spatial type t leverage new functinality. [Added June 27, 2014] At ArcGIS 10.3, ur base supprt fr IBM DB2 z/os will begin at versin 10. Other ptins are available fr develpers, including SQL, which is available as a result f the widespread adptin f spatial types, the File Gedatabase API (intrduced in 2011), and ArcGIS Runtime SDKs that ffer mdern envirnments fr the creatin f cmpelling custm applicatins. Other 10.2 Ntes [Added June 27, 2014] While we are nt annuncing the deprecatin f ArcGIS fr ios and ArcGIS fr Andrid (smetime referred t as the ArcGIS "green app" r "ArcGIS app fr Smartphnes and Tablets"), this is t serve ntice that n further updates are planned. If yu are currently using either ArcGIS fr ios r ArcGIS fr Andrid, yu can cntinue t use it. Hwever, we encurage yu t evaluate ur ther app alternatives including Explrer, Operatins Dashbard, and Cllectr fr ArcGIS r use brwser-based templates. Hwever, CASE tls may nt be shipped with future releases f ArcGIS that fllw Fr users interested in gedatabase design with UML, we recmmend using Sparx Systems' Enterprise Architect as it ffers many advantages ver the CASE tls functinality. [Updated Nvember 22, 2013] ArcGIS 10.2 is the last release that supprts the ArcPad extensin t ArcGIS fr Server. The ArcPad extensin fr ArcGIS Server will nt ship with ArcGIS Users are encuraged t use the new ArcPad feature service capabilities in 10.2 t supprt discnnected wrkflws and synchrnizatin t ArcGIS 10.2 fr Server services. Nte: ArcPad 10.2 will supprt nline and ffline editing thrugh hsted and n-premises feature services, s there's n need fr the ArcPad server extensin fr 10.1 and 10.2 services. We recmmend using this native capability if users have 10.1 services. This feature service capability will als wrk with 10.0 services, but the REST end pint didn't have all the capability it has nw (e.g., related tables). Fr this reasn, we will ship the server extensin with ArcPad It's the same server extensin and is being prvided fr thse wh want the new versin f ArcPad and have 9.3 services r wh have 10.0 services and need related table supprt. In the next versin f ArcPad, we will nt ship the extensin. ArcGIS Explrer Online is nw in extended phase supprt. While it will cntinue t be available, it is n lnger being updated. Cmplimentary use f Micrsft's Bing Maps with ArcGIS will be phased ut cmpletely by December 31, Fr additinal details, refer t this dcument: Esri will end supprt fr the legacy ArcGIS Online gecding and ruting services hsted n tasks.arcgisnline.cm n December 31, These are currently in extended supprt. These legacy gecding and ruting services have been replaced by new services available with an ArcGIS Online fr Organizatins subscriptin. The legacy services that will end n December 31, 2013, include the Eurpean Address Lcatr, Nrth American Address Lcatr, Nrth American Address Lcatr (ArcGIS 10 style), United States Street Lcatr, United States Street Lcatr (ArcGIS 10 style), Wrld Places Lcatr, Eurpean Ruting, and Nrth American Ruting. This includes the ArcSDE technlgy cmpnent f ArcGIS fr Server knwn as the ArcSDE applicatin server. [Crrectin February 15, 2013] Supprt fr Micrsft Windws Server 2003/2003 R2 has been extended t ArcGIS ArcGIS 10.1 fr Server will be the last majr release in which the ArcSDE technlgy cmpnent (the ArcSDE applicatin server) will supprt HP-UX n Itanium with Oracle. This is based n Oracle's March 22, 2011, annuncement that it will discntinue all sftware develpment n the Intel Itanium micrprcessr. [Crrectin March 15, 2013] We saw the Oracle annuncement that it was ending supprt fr the Oracle database n HP-UX/Itanium servers. While the Oracle annuncement didn't drive ur decisin, it did cause us t step back and evaluate the limited number f custmers that we had n the HP-UX/Itanium platfrm versus the cnsiderable resurces that were required fr us t cntinue t supprt HP-UX/Itanium as a platfrm. We made a decisin that thse resurces culd be better utilized t supprt ther new platfrms fr the Oracle database where we are seeing strng market demand frm ur Oracle custmer base, like Oracle Exadata Database Machines and Oracle Linux. 9 The ArcGIS 10.1 fr Server ArcSDE technlgy cmpnent will n lnger supprt 32-bit versins f the SDE cmmand line utilities r 32-bit versins f the C and Java APIs. With the migratin f ArcGIS fr Server t 64-bit, the SDE cmmand line utilities and the ArcSDE SDK will be 64-bit nly. ArcGIS 10.1 fr Server will nt supprt Micrsft SQL Server 2005 with enterprise gedatabases. At 10.1, enterprise gedatabases will supprt SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2. Esri als intends t supprt SQL Server Denali (SQL Server 2011) with 10.1 enterprise gedatabases nce Denali is in final release. [Crrectin March 14, 2013] Micrsft released the next versin f SQL Server as SQL Server ArcGIS 10.1 will be the last planned release fr the ArcGIS Web ADFs (Applicatin Develper Framewrk) fr bth Micrsft.NET and Java. Esri will cntinue supprting the web ADFs during the 10.1 release cycle, but nly fixes t critical issues will be addressed. N new functinality r enhancement requests will be addressed fr the web ADFs. Web applicatin develpers are encuraged t mve t a web services-based pattern with the ArcGIS APIs fr JavaScript, Flex, and Silverlight. ArcGIS 10.1 fr Server will n lnger supprt lcal cnnectins (DCOM cnnectins). ArcGIS 10.1 fr Server will be a web services (REST, SOAP, and OGC) server nly. This will have an impact n the fllwing: The web editing functinality f default web ADF will n lnger be supprted. ArcGIS 10.1 will cntinue evlving and enhancing its web editing capabilities n tp f the new feature service (new in ArcGIS 10) and the ArcGIS Web Mapping APIs. Custm-develped applicatins frm business partners and users using fine-grained ArcObjects thrugh DCOM will nt be supprted. Thanks t the recent enhancements in server bject extensins, develpers can nw migrate custm business lgic written at the web applicatin (web ADF) level t custm ArcGIS fr Server services. Develpment against fine-grained ArcObjects cntinues t be fully supprted fllwing the server bject extensin pattern fr extending ArcGIS fr Server services. Esri has been recmmending this apprach fr sme time already due t its simplicity and imprved perfrmance. Web ADF applicatins using nnpled services will nt be supprted. Over the years, sme custmers have adpted a pattern fr their ArcGIS fr Server applicatins that use nnpled services. ArcGIS 10.1 fr Server will be the last planned release fr the ArcGIS Server Manager Web Mapping Applicatin (Micrsft.NET and Java). Page 9 f 11

10 ArcGIS Server Manager includes a wizard fr cnfiguring ut-f-the-bx web mapping applicatins based n web ADF technlgy. ArcGIS 10.1 is the last release f the Web Mapping Applicatin wizard in Manager. Esri will cntinue supprting the ArcGIS Server Manager Applicatin Wizard and web applicatins created with it during the 10.1 release cycle, but nly fixes t critical issues will be addressed. New ut-f-the-bx applicatins (ArcGIS Viewer fr Flex, ArcGIS Viewer fr Silverlight, ArcGIS fr SharePint, ArcGIS.cm viewer, ArcGIS Explrer Online) based n the ArcGIS Web Mapping APIs, as well as a new experience fr cnfiguring them, will be ffered as part f the ArcGIS 10.1 fr Server release. ArcGIS 10.1 will n lnger supprt the use f Bing Maps layers r Bing Maps gecding tasks frm applicatins created with the ArcGIS Server Manager Applicatin Wizard r custm web ADF applicatins. Supprt fr Bing Maps layers acrss ther ArcGIS applicatins and ArcGIS APIs remains unchanged. ArcGIS 10.1 fr Server n lnger supprts VBScript r JScript expressins n Linux. VBScript and JScript will cntinue t be supprted n ArcGIS fr Server fr Micrsft Windws. Bth VBScript and JScript expressins are used as part f labeling expressins in map dcuments r in specific geprcessing tls. Pythn scripting will be added as a replacement fr these scripting languages, and ArcGIS fr Desktp will supprt authring Pythn scripts in areas where VBScript and JScript are presently used. ArcGIS 10.1 fr Server n lnger supprts publishing f ArcGIS fr Desktp map dcuments withut analyzing them first. In 9.3.1, we intrduced tls fr analyzing map dcuments via the Map Service Publishing tlbar in ArcGIS fr Desktp. ArcGIS 10.1 will nt allw publishing f map dcuments that have nt been previusly analyzed. By enfrcing this step, maps are ensured t publish crrectly and run ptimally. During the analyzatin prcess, specific data surces, layer types, and renderers will be flagged as errrs, preventing publishing: Data surces: CAD files, ArcInf Wrkstatin Cverages, VPF, map and image services, persnal gedatabases, text and Excel files Renderers: Custm renderers (develped with ArcObjects), linear referencing hatch renderer, bivariate renderer Layers: Tplgy layers, layer selectins ArcGIS 10.1 fr Server will n lnger supprt the Micrsft Access-based persnal gedatabase.
