1 LATINFARMA 2013 XX Latin-American Congress of Pharmacology La Habana, n Society of Pharmacology Havana International Convention Centre October 21-25, 2013 Immunopharmacology /Biotechnology Workshop First Announcement The Latin-American Association of Pharmacology (ALF) and the n Society of Pharmacology (SCF), in collaboration with prestigious scientific institutions, are organizing the XX Latin-American Congress of Pharmacology and the 5 th International Congress of Pharmacology (Latinfarma 2013). Different Symposia and Workshops will be running in parallel, including a Workshop focused on Immunopharmacology and Biotechnology. Main topics: Immunopharmacology. Inflammation. Tumour Immunity Allergy and hypersensitivity Prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines Adjuvants Preclinical and clinical evaluation of biotechnological products (cytokines, growth factors, blood products, monoclonal antibodies, immunomodulators) Delivery Systems and needle free administration: Application of nano and microtechnology to health science. New therapeutic targets, technologies and methods. Nanomedicine Bioprocesses issues: High density cultures, metabolic engineering, scaling and optimizing fermentations, novel techniques for purification, integration of processes, pegylation technology for peptides and proteins, formulation strategies of peptides and proteins Neuroimmunology and Neuropharmacology: Glial cells, Biomarkers, Disease models, Stem cells therapy, Neurodegenerations, Behavioural disorders Omics: Genomics, Proteomics and Pharmacogenomics Regulatory aspects on biological and biotechnological products: Regulations, biosimilars, stability, quality control and assurance, pharmacokinetic studies, reference standards, validation, analytical development, manufacturing, postmarketing surveillance The key objectives of the Symposium are: To provide a progressive state-of-the-art report for scientists, manufacturers, regulators and healthcare workers. To promote the experience exchange, the presentation of results and the discussion on the topics above mentioned. To accelerate progress in the development of Immunopharmacology and Biotechnology and the acceptance of new methods and technologies, mainly in our continent.

4 Call for Abstracts The Organizers will publish the full Scientific Program via Website with Keynote Address from well-known invited speakers and Oral Presentations chosen from submitted abstracts. When sending the abstract, please, indicate the Workshop and Topic in which you would like to be included. Oral and Poster presentations should be clearly indicated. The Organizing Committee will have the right of choosing oral presentation. Spanish and English are the Congress official languages. The Organizing Committee of LATINFARMA 2013 will inform authors via E- mail about the acceptance of presentations, not later than one month after the deadline for the reception of the abstracts. Deadline Submission Abstracts: June 1 st, 2013 Full Instructions for Write Abstract in: Congress Website: (not available yet) The abstracts should be sent by to: Dr. Mario Landys Chovel (foreign delegates), vaccipharma@finlay.edu.cu and to Dr. Idania Rodeiro (local delegates), idania.rodeiro@infomed.sld.cu. Alternatively, the abstracts could be sent via online ( Authors should provide their abstract in English, in Word format (Arial, 12 pt, Single space). Title: In Black and capital letter, Abstract in Arial 10. Authors: Last name and first letter of the name using comas between every author (in black). The name of the author who will present the work should be underlined e.g. Rodeiro I, Menendez R, Remirez D, Institutions, Addresses, . Abstracts should be clear and precise. Abstract should contain a brief introduction, materials and methods used, the results achieved in research and conclusions. 300 words maximum. Abstracts not fulfilling the instructions described will be automatically rejected. The lecturer should provide his full name, address of institution, , fax and telephone number. Without providing this information the abstract won t be accepted. The Congress program will be also printed and distributed with documentation on site. Facilities will be available in the Workshop sessions for computer-assisted presentations. You need to bring your presentation on a floppy disk (3.5 "/1.44 MB, no ZIP disk), on a CD, or on a flash memory using the USB port. Participants presenting with a Macintosh presentation are requested to use their own laptop, making sure the laptop has a VGA socket for sending images to the projector (external feed) Letter for Invitation The Organizers will provide a letter of invitation to participants, if requested, to make easier the steps for obtaining visa and funds. This letter doesn t necessarily imply any financial support from the Congress Organizing Committee.

Although the conversion rate changes every day, 1 Euro is about 1.2 CUC Congress registration fee assures the right to accommodation at a discount price (special for the Congress, see touristic package), access to all the scientific activities during the Conference, accreditation module including the Program and the Abstract Book and coffee-breaks during the Conference days. Please note that the registration fee does not include insurance. Lunches at the Congress Venue, Welcome cocktail and Farewell Party are not either included in the registration fees. For that, separated fees should be paid as follow: Lunches: 50 CUC (10 CUC per lunch) Welcome Cocktail/Dinner: 15 CUC per person Farewell Party: 15 CUC per person TOTAL OF ADDITIONAL FEES: 80 CUC per person All delegates should pay in advance the registration fees.
