2 THIRD INDUSTRIAL CELL CULTURE TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE JUNE 2-3, 2014 Laupheim s historical castle, Schloss Großlaupheim, Germany Rentschler Biotechnologie GmbH is delighted to announce the third Laupheimer Zelltage industrial cell culture conference, which will focus on Processes for Virus-based Biologics. Novel virus-based carrier technologies, such as virus-like particles (Cervarix and Gardasil ), are breaking into new vaccine sectors and helping to provide the overall vaccine market with double-digit compound annual growth rates. The first approval of gene therapeutics (Glybera ) in Europe at the end of 2012, as well as various other reports of success from further gene therapy trials, are bolstering confidence in the potential of gene therapy. This will significantly boost capital flow and hopefully lead to the long-awaited break in gene therapy, especially as oncolytic viruses or magic bullets are attracting more and more attention in cancer therapy. Common to all of these virus-based biologics is their high degree of complexity, creating the necessity for high levels of understanding of virus and cell biology as well as a multiplicity of innovative technologies. The manufacturing of virus-based biologics is setting new standards for process development and analytical and regulatory requirements. EVENT HIGHLIGHT Processes for Virus-based Biologics encompass all aspects related to platform technologies for the manufacturing and control of viral biopharmaceuticals, including viral vectors, oncolytic viruses and virus-based vaccines. The third industrial cell culture conference will bring together international academic and industrial experts in cell culture and process technology for the production of virus-based biologics.
