2 Invitation It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the 9th International symposium on alcoholic liver and pancreatic diseases and cirrhosis (ISALPD/C) to be held in Szeged, Hungary from Nov, During this two days international symposium, we will focus on two major organs, which are commonly affected due to alcohol abuse: the liver and the pancreas. Although, several molecular pathways and potential targets have been identified so far, the treatment options are limited which results in high morbidity and mortality rates. Therefore, our ultimate goal is to bring together clinicians (hepatologist and pancreatologist) and basic scientists from all over the world to present and discuss current topics in clinical research and basic molecular mechanisms. Szeged (our host city), located in the south-eastern part of Hungary, will provide a friendly environment for the meeting. The social programs (welcome reception and folkdance evening) will nicely complement the scientific sessions of the conference. We hope that you will join us at this meeting! Besides the invited lectures, there will be 3 free paper sessions (3x10 minutes each) and 2 poster sessions for submitted abstracts.
