2 WELCOME The Careers Australia Group (CAG) is one of the largest private education institutes in Australia. As a modern, dynamic education institution with an established international focus, the staff and educational programs are world class, with academic and welfare support central to its educational philosophy. Careers Australia is closely linked with industry and able to identify sectors requiring skilled workers. Therefore, it tailors its programs accordingly. VISION STATEMENT The Careers Australia VET in Schools (VETiS) mission is to provide secondary school students with high quality education programs, which foster genuine pathways to further study or employment. Our programs are demographic specific and focus on the development of relevant industry, interpersonal and employability skills, whilst providing students with nationally recognised qualifications. 2

3 WHAT IS THE VETiS DIPLOMA OF BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM? The VETiS Diploma of Business Scholarship Program provides students, who have completed year 10, with financial support to study a Diploma of Business, whilst completing either year 11 or 12. The scholarship will cover the full length of study required to complete the qualification. WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY? Students must: Be commencing year 11 or 12 in 2016 in a Queensland, South Australian or Western Australian Secondary School Fulfil the Diploma of Business entry requirements (p.6) Attend a school that already offers the Diploma of Business Program or that will be commencing the program in WHAT WILL THE SCHOLARSHIP COVER? The scholarship will include all of the following resources: Language, Literacy and Numeracy Indicator Qualified Educator All course materials Outside classroom support Holiday workshops Extra one-on-one/small group workshops Reporting in line with school reporting system Issuance of the Diploma Qualification. 3

4 SELECTION CRITERIA The applicant must write a response addressing two of the following selection criteria. Each response should be a minimum of 200 words each and details examples of how you meet the criteria: Need for financial assistance Intending to pursue a career and further education in the business field Currently completing and excelling in a part-time work environment Keen interest in opening your own business REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION 1. Completed Careers Australia scholarship application form (download from webpage). 2. A cover letter introducing themselves. 3. A response to two of the selection criteria. 4. Full curriculum vitae including previous employment experience, leadership positions held, community involvement and certified copies of sporting, academic or other achievements. 5. A copy of their most recent school report. 6. A referee report written by a person who can vouch for the quality and standard of the applicant s work. 4

5 OFFER PROCESS 1. Complete the application including all required documentation and submit via by the due date (listed on webpage), to: If all complete documentation is not received, students will not be in the running to receive a scholarship. 2. Applications will be reviewed by Careers Australia. 3. Short listed applicants will be notified and an interview with the selection committee will be arranged (dates of proposed interview week listed on webpage). Candidates required for an interview will be contacted with details of the time and date of the interview, which will take place at their school. 4. Interview will be conducted and students will undertake the Language, Literacy and Numeracy Indicator (LLN). 5. Successful applicants and their school will then be notified by and mail. CONDITIONS OF THE SCHOLARSHIP The successful applicants who are awarded the scholarship must agree to be featured on Careers Australia s website and in promotional material. The successful applicants will also be required to attend a Careers Australia Expo located in their region. 5

6 DIPLOMA INFORMATION A Diploma course is the highest level of study from a registered training organisation and will equip you with specialised knowledge and skills to enter into your chosen industry and form a clear path to further education at university. A Diploma is a nationally recognised qualification that is classed as a level 5 by the Australian Qualifications Framework. Entry Requirements Age requirements: The age requirement for entry into this course through Careers Australia is 16, unless the student has completed year 10. Language requirements: English is the language of instruction at Careers Australia and proficiency in speaking, listening to, reading and writing English is essential. A Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Indicator will be conducted in the last stages of the application. An applicant will need to achieve 60% or more to be accepted into the scholarship program. 6
