2 Undergraduate degrees Arts in Contemporary and Applied Theatre Academic Bachelor of Arts in Contemporary and Applied Theatre 3 Feb S C $26,500 This degree is for students who are passionate about theatre, drama and performance work. Gain skills in devising theatre, acting and performance development, directing, and staging major productions. Learn about contemporary and historical theatre contexts, and how to develop applied theatre projects for the community. An industry placement opportunity in your final year will further cement your practical experience. As a primary school teacher you bring the foundations of knowledge to young learners. In this degree, learn about the key disciplines that underpin learning and teaching, and how to positively apply these to students from early childhood to year six (five to eleven-years-old). Study primary education, curriculum and education studies, and professional studies, and develop your teaching skills in exciting and varied locations. You will also complete an intensive internship, taking responsibility for planning, teaching, and assessing students in a real school classroom. Third and fourth year: you may apply to study a major in third and fourth years if you meet the academic requirements. 3 degrees Autism Studies Master of Autism Studies 1* Feb/Jul Online $25,000 Graduate Certificate in Autism Studies 0.5^ Feb/Jul Online $12,500 *Master of Autism Studies - 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time, ^Graduate Certificate of Autism Studies years full-time or 1 year part-time Our multidisciplinary, whole-of-life focus Autism Studies degrees teach you how to provide quality intervention and management to people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). You will gain foundation knowledge of ASD, including its impact on communication, learning style, and behaviour management. In the Masters degree, you are taught about critical issues in autism, and learn how to work effectively with people who have autism as well as their families, at home, school, work, and in the community. (Secondary) Certificate any bachelor degree OR qualification leading to professional registration OR minimum of five years relevant work experience and the capacity to study successfully at a postgraduate level. Masters Griffith Graduate Certificate in Autism Studies with a minimum GPA of 4.5 (on a 7 point scale) (or equivalent) in: education; government policy; health; social work; and service provision for people with ASD and their families; as: a curriculum leader; consultant; school leader; and specialist teacher. These degrees are offered by the Autism Centre of Excellence (ACE). ACE is the first of its kind in Australia and the southern hemisphere. Graduate Diploma of (Secondary) 1 Feb * E $25,000 *A minimum overall band score of 7.5 on (Academic) with no sub-score below 8.0 for listening and speaking and 7.0 for reading and writing. If you do not have an education degree, the Graduate Diploma of (Secondary) gives you the necessary skills and knowledge to become a registered secondary school teacher with the Queensland College of Teachers. You will study the theory of education and two nominated teaching subject areas. You will also undertake professional placements at secondary schools. Teaching areas You can select two of the following teaching areas: Biology Chemistry Computer Design and Technology Drama English Film and Media Geography Graphics Health and Physical History Instrumental Music Integrated Sciences Languages other than English (LOTE) Learning Support specialisation* Music Physics Science Visual Arts *Learning Support specialisation If you have completed undergraduate psychology subjects you are eligible to choose the Learning Support specialisation. This specialisation teaches you to provide learning support to students with additional needs. 4 Master of 1.5 Feb/Jul E $25,000 This degree delivers advanced professional learning in one of four key areas to qualified teachers and education professionals (school bursars, school development officers, and training personnel). It can contribute to current teachers professional development requirements and is a program is a pathway to the Master of and Professional Studies Research (page 47) which leads to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of (page 47). Bachelor of (or equivalent teacher education qualification) OR any bachelor degree from a recognised university (or recognised tertiary institution) and a minimum of three years full-time experience (or equivalent) in an educational setting as a leader or manager OR Bachelor of with Honours OR Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of or equivalent. Credit for previous study Bachelor of with Honours, Graduate Certificate in, and Graduate Diploma of holders will be eligible for 40 points of credit towards the Masters. Award majors You choose one of the below award majors: English, multiliteracies, and new media Leadership, policy, and social transformation Young children, early childhood and identity Youth, digital culture and new learning. in: higher level education positions. The program will afford students the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of wide-ranging topics which affect educational settings globally. It will offer significant professional advantage in career advancement and/ or broadening career options. and Professional Studies Research any recognised bachelor degree or higher Majors Leadership, Policy and Social Transformations English, Multiliteracies and New Media Youth, Digital Culture and New Learning Children, Early Childhood and Identity Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) Autism Studies Special Needs and Intervention Training and Development. as: a curriculum innovator; education officer; educational management consultant; leading teacher; learning and teaching specialist; learning support teacher; lecturer/tutor; policy and planning officer; school principal or vice-principal.; specialist practitioner consultant; teacher in adult and community education. This program does not lead to teacher registration. This degree includes a Community Internship elective so you can put your academic learning into practise. Master of and Professional Studies Research 1 Feb/Jul G $26,500 This specialist higher degree by research program allows you to plan, execute, and write a research dissertation on an education topic that is relevant to you. The dissertation is expected to be approximately 30,000 words. Upon successful completion of this degree, provided you meet particular academic standards, you will be eligible to enter the Doctor of, and may be eligible for other higher degree by research programs. The formal admission requirements for this program are as follows: related postgraduate qualification with a minimum GPA of 5 (on a 7 point scale) (or equivalent) OR related bachelor degree with at least Second Class Honours (Division B) Please note: we advise you to meet or speak with the program convenor prior to enrolment. in: education research fields. This program does not lead to teacher registration. Pathways to further study Students can progress to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of (EdD) program after successfully completing the program at the required standard. 47

5 Special Needs and Intervention Master of Special Needs and Intervention 1 Feb/Jul External $25,000 Graduate Certificate in Special Needs 1* Feb/Jul Online $12,500 *Graduate Certificate in Special Needs - 1 year part-time study. Develop the knowledge, skills, and creative talents to help students with special needs learn. Learn to recognise, and focus on, the capabilities, interests, and learning styles, of individual students. At the masters level you will undertake a research project in special and inclusive education. Graduate Certificate any recognised bachelor degree or higher. This program suits applicants with full-time teaching experience. Masters Griffith Graduate Certificate in Special Needs (or equivalent) with a minimum GPA of 4.5 (on a 7 point scale) (or equivalent). in: a range of educational settings; as: an inclusion teacher; special education teacher; or support teacher. You are also able to advance your professional career to senior leadership positions in special and inclusive education. This degree does not lead to teacher registration. Griffith s Special and Inclusive degrees are benchmarks in Australia. Final year students are often offered positions before they officially graduate. Teaching - Primary Master of Teaching - Primary 1.5* Feb/Jul # B $25,000 *Fast-track program - You will complete this degree in 1.5 years by studying on a three-semester per year basis (four courses per semester). #A minimum overall band score of 7.5 on (Academic) with no sub-score below 8.0 for listening and speaking and 7.0 for reading and writing. This degree gives graduates without an education degree the necessary skills and knowledge to apply for registration as a primary school teacher. Learn about the theory and practice of teaching, the characteristics of learners, and the social and educational contexts of education and curriculum studies. You will also undertake professional placements to gain practical teaching experience. any bachelor degree (or equivalent) with a minimum GPA of 4 (on a 7 point scale) which includes the equivalent of at least one full year of study in areas relevant to one or more teaching areas expected by employers: The Arts; English; Health and Physical ; Mathematics; Science; History, Geography and Technology. applicants are encouraged to include a statement about, and/or evidence of, previous experience relevant to the degree (i.e. certification in community learning settings). in: primary and early years settings You will be eligible to apply for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers. Develop your existing vocational knowledge and build your capacity for professional work in training, teaching, development, and research-related roles. any recognised bachelor degree or higher Exit point After successfully completing 40 credit points worth of courses you may be eligible to exit with a Graduate Certificate in Training and Development. The Graduate Certificate is offered as an exit point only. in: training and development roles in professional education, and development roles in private and public sector organisations. The teaching specialisation allows you to work in the vocational education and training (VET) sector. Please note: this degree does not lead to teacher registration. (Research) Doctor of 3 Feb/Jul C $26,500 Undertake a research project based on your area of professional interest and develop an in-depth understanding of educational problem solving in changing social, cultural and political contexts. related bachelor degree with at least upper Second Class Honours (Division B) (or equivalent) as determined by the Dean, Griffith Graduate Research School, and relevant professional engagement over a minimum period of three years AND a professional portfolio (completed using the template provided by the school) in: leadership and management positions in educational institutions and systems, and other organisations that run educational programs.
