You will gain foundation knowledge of ASD, including its impact on communication, learning style, and behaviour management. In the Masters degree, you are taught about critical issues in autism, and learn how to work effectively with people who have autism as well as their families, at home, school, work, and in the community. (Secondary) Certificate any bachelor degree OR qualification leading to professional registration OR minimum of five years relevant work experience and the capacity to study successfully at a postgraduate level. Masters Griffith Graduate Certificate in Autism Studies with a minimum GPA of 4.5 (on a 7 point scale) (or equivalent) in: education; government policy; health; social work; and service provision for people with ASD and their families; as: a curriculum leader; consultant; school leader; and specialist teacher. These degrees are offered by the Autism Centre of Excellence (ACE). ACE is the first of its kind in Australia and the southern hemisphere. Graduate Diploma of (Secondary) 1 Feb * E $25,000 *A minimum overall band score of 7.5 on (Academic) with no sub-score below 8.0 for listening and speaking and 7.0 for reading and writing. If you do not have an education degree, the Graduate Diploma of (Secondary) gives you the necessary skills and knowledge to become a registered secondary school teacher with the Queensland College of Teachers. You will study the theory of education and two nominated teaching subject areas. You will also undertake professional placements at secondary schools. It can contribute to current teachers professional development requirements and is a program is a pathway to the Master of and Professional Studies Research (page 47) which leads to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of (page 47). Bachelor of (or equivalent teacher education qualification) OR any bachelor degree from a recognised university (or recognised tertiary institution) and a minimum of three years full-time experience (or equivalent) in an educational setting as a leader or manager OR Bachelor of with Honours OR Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of or equivalent. Credit for previous study Bachelor of with Honours, Graduate Certificate in, and Graduate Diploma of holders will be eligible for 40 points of credit towards the Masters. Master of and Professional Studies Research 1 Feb/Jul G $26,500 This specialist higher degree by research program allows you to plan, execute, and write a research dissertation on an education topic that is relevant to you. The dissertation is expected to be approximately 30,000 words. Upon successful completion of this degree, provided you meet particular academic standards, you will be eligible to enter the Doctor of, and may be eligible for other higher degree by research programs. This program suits applicants with full-time teaching experience.
