1 The Kansas Open Records Act makes the names, positions, salaries, and lengths of service of employees of the City of Lawrence a public record. The summary below lists salary and position information for each employee on the City's payroll for pay dates in It includes full time and part time employees that worked all or a partial year, due to starting a new position or separating from service. Employees that retired from service may have received lump sum payouts for benefits such as vacation and sick leave. If an employee changed positions mid year, the reported position is the most current one and gross wages equals the sum of wages earned in all positions. If an employee held more than one position concurrently, gross wages for each position are reported separately. Gross wages include base pay and additional pay items, such as overtime, shift pay for working second or third shift or performing snow duty, premium pay for working weekends or holidays, on call or call back pay, additional pay for advanced certifications, education, or skills, or serving in an acting status, allowances for protective clothing or using personal equipment to perform work duties, and longevity payments. Requests for copies of specific employee records can be obtained from the Human Resources Office, City Hall, PO Box 708, Lawrence, Kansas 66044, (main phone) or (fax). See pages for an alphabetical listing of position grade assignments and pages for pay plans that describe the range of compensation for each grade.
