1 DARE Wo Women s Executive Presence Women and Leadership Organisations need women leaders. Very few women progress to the top in their careers. Why don t more dare to speak up and stand out? More women are needed in leadership positions. Having women in top management positions has a positive influence on the financial success of organisations, as research confirms. Even where there are opportunities for women to advance, too few capable and experienced professional women respond. This is even the case when the systems and processes are in place. What is holding women back? There are a number of factors, including unintentional gender bias. Traditional training has failed to address the real concerns, taking an approach of fix the woman and focusing on typical male traits (i.e. how to be more assertive and self-promoting). The global world in which we live demands flexibility, adaptability and above all collaborative leadership. This means empowering and engaging people. Listening, coaching, giving feedback. (These are often called the typical feminine behaviours ). How can women find their own identity to become authentic and successful leaders? We believe that for many women, self-confidence plays a role. Not a lack of confidence in their intellectual capacity or professional expertise. The professionals capable of reaching leading positions have bags of this already. But some lack the ability to speak up and stand out! We cannot just tell women that if they want to take their place at the top of their organisations, they need to follow the patterns of their male colleagues Deborah Kolb Simple things are difficult. 2 Leadership development for women needs to be identity work. Professional women need to see themselves as leaders as well as be seen by others as such. To meet the needs of women executives, we have designed a development programme, just for women, to become more courageous in leading themselves to lead others. Personal development work requires a safe environment and supportive peers. 3 DARE to be You! Limiting self-talk often holds us back. Development work needs to support the resolution of common anxieties - not being liked, not being good enough and respected enough. Participants work in a collaborative way, learning from and supporting each other. The focus and content of the programme addresses the following: Understanding the special challenges facing women in leadership roles Recognising self-limiting behavior and attitudes Acting with confidence and self-belief Increasing visibility and impact at work Being assertive and influencing others more effectively Creating support to sustain progress. Women need to step up in greater numbers, which means an improvement in confidence, assertiveness and leadership. 4 What Can I Expect? We believe that behavioural change can only come through practice. The programme is high on experiential activity and low on theory, always with the focus on learning and transfer to real life. We run activities that we know have high impact. We build on your strengths and work with what works for you. This programme is designed to make a real difference if you choose to engage thoroughly, commit deeply and apply the practices consistently. Being self-confident and convincing is difficult enough in one s own native language, but even more so when it is a requirement to be persuasive and influential in English. The programme is run in both Swedish and English, concurrently (by native speakers). The tutors are multilingual. They understand the stretch in switching and using a non-native language in an international corporate environment. Participants can work in either Swedish or English and are encouraged to practice their more difficult language as they grow in confidence. Pre-Programme: In-depth assessment including interview with the course tutors Programme: 3 full day group sessions 4 half day group sessions 1 mid-term individual coaching session (90 mins) Post-Programme: Follow-up coaching session to extend and reinforce learning and application. Optional ongoing coaching with either tutor. Optional post-programme assessment. Pre- Pro- gramme Session 1 Full Day S2 & S3 Half Day Mid- Term Coaching S4 Full Day S5 & S6 Half Day S7 Final Day Post Pro- gramme Who Should Attend Mid- to senior level women executives who want to become more powerful leaders through a learning experience that builds confidence and credibility in their international workplace. The programme will be delivered in Swedish and English, so a working knowledge of English is necessary. Participants can choose individually to what extent they want to develop their presence in both languages. 4

5 GBL Consultants Anne Stenbom Anne is a global executive coach and an accomplished intercultural specialist. She has over 30 years of international business experience working for large multi-nationals across the globe, and across functions and industries. Since becoming a consultant in 2002, Anne has developed and run a wide range of coaching and training programmes for major global players. She has supported over 2,000 people in international business to develop their potential to lead themselves and others. She believes that the key to successful leadership starts with gaining trust through credibility, empathy and a strong sense of inner purpose. Anne is a certified Master Coach (ICC), has an MBA from the Open University Business School in the UK and a BA from the University of Bradford, UK. She is licensed to conduct a number of profiling instruments to support her work. Anne has lived in the UK, France, Germany and Malaysia and worked in many more countries around the world. She is British, speaks five languages fluently and lives a multi-cultural life both at home and work. She now works from her base in Stockholm where she lives with her family. Agneta Guldberg Agneta är verksam som seniorkonsult och coach inom muntlig kommunikation och röst. Agneta har över 20 års erfarenhet av arbete med ledarutveckling inom stora svenska företag såväl individuellt som i grupp. Hennes kunder finns inom infrastruktur, skogsindustri, bank, media, detaljhandel, kommun, kommunikation och tjänstesektor. Agneta har en examen från Handelshögskolan i Stockholm. Hon är också utbildad skådespelare i USA och Sverige. Dessutom är hon logonom, röstpedagog med estetisk inriktning. Agneta är svensk och har tidigare varit bosatt i USA i många år. Hon bor nu i centrala Stockholm.
