Sjukförsäkring If you are signed off sick for a long period Long-term sickness can have a considerable effect on your finances. Reduction in income due to long term sickness can often lead to financial strain on you and your family. Our Sickness protection insurance provides you with greater financial security in the event of sickness lasting longer than three months. Our Sjukförsäkring has been developed in cooperation with Movestic Livförsäkring AB. Include your family! You can include your registered partner, husband/wife or cohabiting partner in the same offer.
Sjukförsäkring Sickness protection insurance helps you lessen the reduction in your income in the event of long-term sickness and forms a supplement to the compensation you receive from the Försäkringskassan. There are two versions of the insurane: Sickness protection and Sickness protection without lump-sum compensation. The difference between these insurance policies is that Sickness protection without lump-sum compensation does not pay out a lump sum in the event of lasting incapacity for work of at least 50% after 48 months. The premiums are also lower for that reason. Who is eligible for the insurances? Group members and their husbands/wives, cohabiting partners and registered partners up to the month before the policyholder reaches the age of 60. Co-insured persons can only take out the insurance if the group member has taken it out. Co-insured persons can only take out the insurance for an amount of SEK 1,000. How long do the insurance policies apply for? The insurance applies up to and including the calendar month in which the insured person reaches the age of 65. What are the requirements for the insurance? You are required to be fully fit for work*, permanently resident in Sweden and registered with the Försäkringskassan. You also need to be a member or the husband/wife, cohabiting partner or registered partner of a member of one of our owner associations: Sveriges Ingenjörer (the Swedish Association of Graduate Engineers), DIK, Förbundet Sveriges Arbetsterapeuter (the Swedish Association of Occupational Therapists), Sveriges Farmaceuter (the Swedish Pharmacists Association) or Akademikerförbundet SSR (the Union for Professionals). What does the insurance cover? The insurance policies can pay out compensation at a minimum of 25 % incapacity for work. The compensation is tax-free. Compensation is paid out after a qualification period of three months. The size of the compensation is proportional to the incapacity for work. The maximum compensation period is 48 months. Nevertheless, compensation can only be paid out up to the end of the calendar month in which you reach the age of 65. Any lump-sum compensation is paid out after the insured person has received monthly compensation for 48 months and lasting incapacity for work of 50 % has been established by the insurer. Insurance compensation is not paid out if full compensation for loss of income is being paid out from motor vehicle insurance.
Sickness protection insurance Sickness Protection Insurance provides you with monthly compensation in the event of long-term sickness and lump-sum insurance in the event of lasting incapacity for work. Compensation Sickness Protection Insurance consists of two elements: 1. Monthly compensation based on the percentage at which the insured person is signed off sick x SEK 1,000 per month (maximum payment 48 months). For members with Sjukskydd Tillval [Sickness Protection Choice], the monthly compensation consists of the degree of incapacity to work x SEK 2,000 5,000 per month. 2. Lump-sum compensation paid out in the event of lasting incapacity for work of at least 50% after the monthly amount has been paid out for 48 months. The compensation is calculated at SEK 1,000 x the degree of incapacity for work (as a percentage) x the number of months remaining up to the end of the month in which the policyholder reaches the age of 65. Sickness protection choice Sickness protection insurance can be supplemented if you have a high monthly income. That means that you can extend your insurance based on your income and therefore ensure that the reduction in your income is as small as possible in the event of long-term sickness. Premium per month according to age bands Amount of compensation years years years years years SEK SEK 36 SEK 65 SEK 91 SEK 110 SEK 132 With choice: SEK 2,000 (SEK 1,000 + SEK 1,000 choice) SEK 51 SEK 92 SEK 129 SEK 156 SEK 187 SEK (SEK 1,000 + SEK 2,000 choice) SEK 66 SEK 119 SEK 167 SEK 202 SEK 242 SEK (SEK 1,000 + SEK 3,000 choice) SEK 81 SEK 146 SEK 205 SEK 248 SEK 297 SEK (SEK 1,000 + SEK 4,000 choice) SEK 96 SEK 173 SEK 243 SEK 294 SEK 352 Example of how the insurance works Lisa has been signed off sick at 100 % for three years. Lisa is covered by Sjukskyddsförsäkring with Akademikerförsäkring. She has received compensation every month except during the qualification period, which is three months. If, after four years (48 months' compensation), she is assessed as having lasting incapacity for work, she receives a lump-sum.
Sickness protection insurance without lump-sum compensation Sickness protection insurance without lump-sum compensation provides you with monthly compensation during long-term sickness. It works in the same way as Sickness protection insurance by compensating part of the reduction in income that long-term sickness can mean after a qualifying period of three months has passed. However, the insurance does not contain any lump-sum compensation in the event of permanent incapacity for work after 48 months. The insurance can be adapted according to income through different amounts of compensation. Compensation Monthly compensation based on the degree of incapacity for work x SEK 1,000 per month (maximum payment 48 months). For members with Sjukskydd Tillval [Sickness Protection Choice], the monthly compensation consists of the degree of incapacity for work x SEK 2,000 5,000 per month (maximum payment 48 months). Premium per month according to age bands Amount of compensation years years years years years SEK 1,000 SEK 12 SEK 24 SEK 38 SEK 50 SEK 60 SEK 2,000 SEK 24 SEK 48 SEK 76 SEK 100 SEK 120 SEK 3,000 SEK 36 SEK 72 SEK 114 SEK 150 SEK 180 SEK 4,000 SEK 48 SEK 96 SEK 152 SEK 200 SEK 240 SEK 5,000 SEK 60 SEK 120 SEK 190 SEK 250 SEK 300
Example of compensation Monthly compensation: Let us assume that you are signed off sick at 50% for 12 months after a qualifying period. You compensation then becomes 50% of SEK 1,000 = SEK 500 per month for 12 months. If, for example, you have Sjukskyddsförsäkring choice SEK 2,000, the compensation instead becomes 50% of SEK 2,000 = SEK 1,000 for 12 months. Lump-sum compensation Let us then assume that you are 55 years of age and are permanently signed off sick at 50%. Your lump-sum compensation then becomes SEK 500 (50% of SEK 1,000) x 120 months (the number of months until you reach the age of 65) = SEK 60,000.
