Advanced gamers learn new game design techniques including multiple character animations, movement options, platform style games, and multiple game genres. Beginners work in pairs and are introduced to fundamental game design elements, including character creation, background design, and building a complete video game level. Students should have a completed video game by the end of class. This basic course will utilize two computer applications: Inkscape and Game Salad. Each class will introduce a new App concept where the students create their own graphics and then program those graphics into their own mobile app test project. Emphasizing on exposing students to basic concepts, students will get a taste of what it is like designing and developing mobile Apps. Designed to increase expressive freedom, creativity, sensory awareness and concentration, these exercises emphasize the imagination and sense of play.
