1 Please note this is a base list of apps used by the year 5 and 6 students who participated in the Sunnyhills BYOD Trial and teachers in Unless stated otherwise, the listed apps are free. We recommend downloading all free apps. Paid apps are optional to download, however imovie is highly recommended. Please note we suggest to have one page set up on your child s ipad with all the apps your child uses at school within relevant folders. Maths Math Bingo (paid) The object of Math BINGO is to get a pattern of five BINGO Bugs in a row by correctly answering math problems. Math Bingo now supports up to 30 player profiles. Great for practising basic facts. Math Zombies Answer the question correctly to defend against Zombies. Beat the level by defending against the waves of Zombies Wings Fun math game helps children ages 4 and up develop a conceptual understanding using six different visual forms. Bookshelf ibooks ibooks is an amazing way to download and read books. ibooks includes the ibookstore, where you can download the latest bestselling books. Create your own books on your ipad using Book Creator and store them here (epub). Then children can read eacher other s created books! Create a class ibooks bookshelf! 1

2 Tools QRReader The most simple & easy QR Reader. Must have a QR code already created, this scans and reads the QR Code. Fast and effective. Create QR Codes Allows 100 characters and creates a code that when scanned will speak those 100 characters. Could use for book reviews see for example. Use to create a who am I scenario. Each code gives a clue with the last code confirming the answer. Create similes and store in this qr voice code. assign a website (great for creating a qr codes for your own blogsite and put in your window and in the homework books! Also make a qr codes which stores text, so publish a story! QR Codes descriptive writing Recount writing Browser Apps Rover Rover is a free education app and the only education browser for your ipad designed for teachers and students of all ages. Try this browser when using a website that uses flash. Inquiry Apps Khan Academy Khan Academy allows you to learn almost anything for free. View Khan Academy s complete library of over 3,500 videos. Science Hub Explore this free SciTV education app and discover New Zealand's innovative science and technology through video. 2

4 Haiku Deck Haiku Deck is the simple new way to create stunning presentations whether you are pitching an idea, teaching a lesson, telling a story, or igniting a movement. 5 Spelling / Grammar SpellingCity VocabularySpellingCity is a fun way to learn spelling and vocabulary words by playing engaging learning games using any word list. The most popular activities are a spelling test, HangMouse, and the vocabulary games. This is available on computers as well as an app! Worthwhile setting up, particularly for middles and seniors. Music Garageband (paid) songs right from Garageband, share to YouTube and SoundCloud. Export your song and add it to the itunes library on your PC or MAC. Get the children to create their own soundtracks to the imovies they create! Great for creating stories etc too! 5
