2 Message from the Chair Welcome to the Fictions of Translation conference! I am delighted that the third edition of Transfiction is being held here at Concordia University, in cooperation with partner universities and organizations. Concordia, a dynamic and diverse university located in the heart of Montreal, is proud to host this bilingual conference showcasing the work of emerging and seasoned scholars from twenty countries from around the world. We look forward to what promises to be an exciting exchange of ideas on the image of the translator in fiction, and on the role and status of translation within our increasingly pluralistic societies. Je suis ravie que ce soit l Université Concordia, en collaboration avec ses universités sœurs et d autres organismes, qui accueille la troisième édition de «Transfiction». L Université Concordia, établissement dynamique et cosmopolite situé au cœur de Montréal, est fière d organiser cette rencontre bilingue qui mettra en lumière les travaux de traductologues tout frais ou chevronnés, en provenance de vingt pays des cinq continents. Nous prévoyons un échange fructueux portant sur l image du traducteur dans la fiction, ainsi que sur le rôle et le statut de la traduction dans la société actuelle, devenue de plus en plus plurielle.
