2 Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences International Relations and Development Studies If you are considering a career in a competitive global environment, this program is for you. This program will provide you with the skills to compete in a highly competitive global market place. It will be of particular interest if you are interested in a career in International Diplomacy, International Organizations such as the UN, Non-Governmental Organizations, and International Business. A Rigorous, Enriching Program This is a unique and interdisciplinary program that combines several academic disciplines into a varied and fascinating study of global politics. Our program is based on a set of core, political science courses and two concentrations selected from Economics, Gender, History, Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies, Sociology, Geography and Globalization, and Languages (choice of French, Arabic, German, Italian or Spanish). The International Relations program combines several academic disciplines into a varied and fascinating study of global politics. Our faculty members conduct cutting-edge research in areas such as conflict resolution and Track II diplomacy, development and aid strategies, food security and hunger, international policy analysis, international trade, Middle Eastern and Islamic politics and religion and politics.

8 Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Political Science: Bilingual Specialization (Honours) If you are considering a career in government or the public service and are looking for a competitive edge, this program is for you. A Rigorous, Enriching Program An elite program designed especially for students interested in a career in government and/or the public service and who require a good working knowledge of French and an understanding of Francophone culture. This bilingual Political Science Degree requires that you take 14 of your courses in French. The courses are offered in co-operation with UWindsor s French Studies program and the international exchange program. You will spend one semester on exchange in France or at a university in Canada studying in French, normally in the third year of the program. You will benefit from an academically rigorous curriculum. You will develop a mastery of the political culture of Francophone Canada, and an ability to read and write political text in both French and English.

10 Inter-Faculty Combined Honours BA Digital Journalism and Political Science Are you looking for a career combining your interests in power, politics and government, or international relations with a practical skill-set? If so, the Combined Honours program in Digital Journalism and Political Science is for you. You will acquire an academic foundation along with the tools of the modern journalist s trade. You will become globally and culturally literate, skilled at research and analysis, precise yet creative in written expression, confident in presentation, and adept at web-based applications. Our graduates can work in mainstream and alternative journalism, as well in as such fields as communications for business, government and non-governmental organizations, teaching, law, and professional writing and production. A Rigorous, Enriching Program Each year, you will take Political Science courses and Digital Journalism courses. In Political Science, you will select from a range of courses including studies in Canadian politics and government, media analysis, conflict resolution, international relations and foreign policy. You will be taught by noted scholars who specialize in distinctive areas of the discipline and in specific geographic regions like the Middle East. In DJ courses, you will study the theory and ethics of journalism in a rapidly changing technological landscape, and learn specific skills such as web-based reporting, podcasting, and audio-visual production. You will take hands-on studio courses each year, in which you are guided by practising journalists, helping you make industry contacts, and build your own professional portfolio. You will also work closely with your classmates to integrate all aspects of your education into the content you post to the DJ program website.

Experiential Learning The Combined Honours in DJ and Political Science integrates academic study with professional training. From your very first year, you will learn skills of researching, reporting, interviewing, writing, photography, and editing, producing features and other projects. Industry professionals are both instructors and guests in the program, and opportunities for professional internships and part-time employment are a key element. Student Support All DJ and Political Science faculty are qualified academic advisors who can help you plan your program and select your courses. Small class sizes, collaborative studios, approachable professors, and helpful staff help ensure that you, the student, are our focus.
