The network consists of 37,000km of gs mins, enough to stretch from the north of Englnd to Sydney, Austrli, nd bck. We connect 10,000 customers to the gs mins every yer, providing efficient wrmth to homes, shops, fctories nd businesses cross northern Englnd. Whtever the size or scle of your project, we ll provide you with timely nd cost-effective new connection. It s importnt to be wre tht in some circumstnces we my hve to interrupt the gs supply to neighbouring properties while we connect you to the service pipe. And, if we re lying pipe under public footpth or highwy, we will need to give dequte notice to the locl council nd crete sfe working re, which my men tht diversions or rod closures re necessry. Whtever the sitution, we ll mke sure tht everyone is informed nd we ll lwys im to keep the level of disruption to minimum.

3 On the dy Before we cn begin the work to connect property to the gs mins, we ll need the site to be cler of scffolding. If we re lying the service pipe on privte lnd, nd you re completing the preprtions yourself, you will need to hve pre-excvted the routes for the pipe nd lid your ducting before we rrive. You cn find guidnce bout doing your own site works on our website. Brriers will be delivered to the site in dvnce, nd on the morning of the dy tht work is due to strt our support drivers will rrive nd drop off ny dditionl mterils nd equipment required. The site tem will follow shortly fter. Things usully go smoothly but we my discover problem tht could not hve been identified without site visit. This my men we hve to lter the scope of works, mend the contrct, nd issue you with new quote. This new price will need to be greed before we begin the work. If you hve ny questions, or there is nything the tem cn do to help you while on site, plese don t hesitte to sk. Mtchmking We my need to dig up rods, pvements, grdens, drivewys or pths to ly the service pipe nd we recommend tht you remove ny shrubs or plnts before we rrive on site. Our professionl tems will return, usully few dys fter your gs connection is complete, to refill ny holes they hve dug. They will use the ltest techniques to get mtch tht is s close s possible to your existing trmc, pving or turf. Plese ber in mind, however, tht new pving or trmc will lwys look different until it hs become wethered nd given the chnce to blend in fully, nd the end result might not be identicl. How quickly cn I expect the work to be completed? Although we lwys im to keep delys to minimum, in some cses externl fctors cn ffect our timescles. An exmple of this could be if we hve to excvte in contminted lnd or if we need to ly pipe in lnd tht isn t owned by you. If this is the cse, you will need to seek permission from the lndowner before work cn go hed. Plese visit for more informtion. Meter box nd meter kiosk options Our scope of works will include bringing the service pipe from the public footpth or rod to your preferred meter position nd providing nd instlling the meter box where possible. Wherever possible, the pipe we ly should run in stright line nd terminte t the fce of the property closest to the gs min, or no more thn 2 metres down side wll. To process your ppliction we need you to tell us where you would like the service to terminte by pinpointing the position on your site pln (scle 1:1250 is preferble) nd returning it to us with your completed ppliction form. We cnnot ly service pipes underneth Do your own digging If we re lying the service pipe on privte lnd, to keep costs down it my be possible for you to excvte the lnd nd crry out the reinsttement yourself. Plese indicte on the ppliction form if you would like to choose this option. buildings such s sheds, grges, conservtories or porches. Look out for things like mnhole covers nd drins which show where other underground services re positioned. There re three meter boxes to choose from: surfce-mounted box, semi-conceled meter box nd built-in box s well s n internl meter nd meter kiosk. A meter box will be supplied for ech property when the gs service is lid (you will need to rrnge for your builder to supply nd instll the built-in meter box) nd we will contct you with your meter point reference number/s nd emergency control vlve pressure tier/s when we let you know your plnned strt dte. On receipt, you will need to contct your gs supplier to provide them with this informtion - it is importnt tht this is done before work is due to commence. Remember tht once we ve connected you to our service pipe you won t hve gs until you ve contcted your gs supplier nd your meter is connected to your pplinces. Your gs supplier cn rrnge connection, but if you would rther orgnise this directly, ny Ofgem Approved Meter Instller (OAMI) or Gs Sfe-registered engineer with meter qulifictions will be ble to do this for you.

4 Your meter box menu SURFACE-MOUNTED METER BOX Dimensions: H503mm x W408mm x D224mm. Loction: This box bolts stright on to your outside wll. Good for: l If you wnt minimum hssle s this box will be supplied nd fitted for you. l Timber-frmed properties. Avoid if: Your wlls fce directly on to pvements, public footpths or shred ccess routes, due to its depth. SEMI-CONCEALED METER BOX Dimensions: H430mm x W480mm x D330m. Loction: This box is prtilly buried t the bottom of your outside wll. Good for: lm eters positioned in grdens or flower beds s it is conceled nd protected from dmge. lt imber-frmed properties. l I f you wnt minimum hssle s this box will be supplied nd fitted for you. BUILT-IN BOX Dimensions: H595mm x W409mm x D210mm. Loction: This box is built into the structure of the wll. You will need to rrnge for your builder to supply nd instll this meter box nd it must be fitted prior to us beginning the work. You must mke sure tht the box slots into the recess nd tht no drill holes re used to secure it s this would render the box unsfe nd dely the work. Avoid if: You hve timberfrmed property s this is considered to be medium helth nd sfety risk. INTERNAL METER Loction: The service pipe enters the property bove or below ground nd no meter box is present. Good for: Trditionl properties where you wnt to preserve the externl ppernce. Avoid if: ly ou don t hve dequte spce. Your gs supplier will be ble to tell you wht size meter will be fitted nd the spce requirements. ly our property is timber frmed s this type of meter is considered to be high helth nd sfety risk in these types of buildings. METER KIOSK Good for: Properties with pek hourly lods greter thn 65Kw s the gs meter will not fit into the boxes described bove. If you wnt us to instll meter kiosk, plese let us know the mke nd model tht you require spek to your gs supplier if you re unsure. We cn supply concrete bse for your kiosk but we will need to know wht size you require. STEP 5 If you wish to ccept the quottion, plese fill in the cceptnce form nd return with the pyment by the dte stted. STEP 6 We will contct you to confirm we hve received your cceptnce nd pyment. STEP 2 You will be llocted dedicted design representtive who will work with you every step of the wy. He or she will contct you to confirm receipt of your ppliction form nd tht we hve ll the informtion to provide you with quottion. We pln to strt work to move your gs supply on: You now just need to contct your gs supplier to rrnge for your meter to be instlled. STEP 7 We will contct you by phone to gree the best possible dte for the work to strt nd finish. We will then follow the cll with reminder crd. STEP 3 We my need to send one of our site surveyors to meet you prior to producing the quottion. We will contct you by phone to rrnge suitble time. STEP 4 We will send you quote by post or by emil, whichever is esiest for you. STEP 8 Once you hve received your plnned connection dte you will need to contct your gs supplier to rrnge time for them to connect your gs pplinces to your meter. This cn only hppen once we hve connected the service pipe from your property to the gs mins. Plese remember tht you won t hve gs until this hs been done. STEP 10 We will send you confirmtion letter once ll work hs been completed. STEP 9 A member of the tem will contct you by phone to prepre you for our visit. They will monitor your job from strt to finish nd keep you updted on the progress.
