1 Dear all FINA Member Federations and Swimmers, British Swimming Ltd has the pleasure to invite you to participate in the FINA 10Km Marathon Swimming, taking place at the Royal Albert Docks in London on Sunday 17 th June. The event will be part of our 2007 Festival of Open Water Swimming, which includes the LEN 5Km Open Water Cup and the 3Km Junior international Event which you are invited to participate in. London is a fantastic City to hold the event, as there are plenty of sites to visit in your spare time. Some favourite landmarks include the National Gallery just off the legendary Trafalgar Square, and the impressive London Eye, The Tower of London and the warmth and culture of Convent Gardens. London has a diverse cultural population that welcomes a multitude of foreign visitors. 2 Training Facilities Training will be available at Mile End Park Leisure Centre in a 25m pool (water temperature C). During training time, the coach will be responsible for their swimmers. Training times are as follows (subject to change): Thursday 14 th June 2007 Friday 15 th June 2007 Saturday 16 th June am 8.45am 3.00pm 5.00pm 6.45am 8.45am 3.00pm 5.00pm 8.00am 10.00am 3.00pm 05.00pm The pool is a 10-minute walk from the accommodation that we use. The address of the training facility is below: Mile End Park Leisure Centre 190 Burdett Road London E3 4HL Transport Transport will be provided free of charge between the 14 th 18 th June 2007, for all swimmers and team staff from the following: Collection and return journey to the following three airports: 1. London City Airport 2. Stansted Airport 3. Heathrow Airport (for International competitors outside of Europe). We regret that we are unable to provide free transport from any other airport or transport out of the dates provided above. Transport from the official accommodation (Queen Mary s) and the event venue. Transport will only be provided to those people that submit their flight information (Flight Number, Airline, Airport, Terminal Number, departure and Arrival time) to the Events Office by Friday 1 st June The Event Office contact details can be found under the Additional Information section.

3 Accommodation According to the FINA rules, free accommodation will be provided for five (5) days and five (5) nights for the following swimmers / representatives: The medallists of the 10Km event at the 4 th FINA World Open Water Swimming Championships Naples The first five (5) men and the first five (5) women classified from the 2006 FINA Marathon Swimming World Cup. An additional up to twenty (20) swimmers. In this number shall be included: Minimum one (1) swimmer per federation. One (1) appointed representative per participating Federation. The official accommodation period will be from 14 th 18 th June Reservations for additional nights of accommodation for swimmers and team staff are to be made through British Swimming Ltd (please fill in the attached form). The accommodation will be based on flats of up to 6 persons with a single room and shared washroom facilities. The rooms are booked on a full board basis (including breakfast, lunch and dinner) and costs 60 per person per night. Bedrooms must be vacated by 10.00am on the day of departure. 4 Event Venue The event will be taking place at the London Regatta Centre, Royal Albert Docks, London. This is located in the heart of the Docklands area in the east of London. It is built on the site of the historic Royal Albert Dock directly opposite London City Airport. The centre is well served by public transport and is two minutes from the Royal Albert Station on the Docklands Light Railway, and also has good road connections to the M11 and M25. The address of the event venue is below: London Regatta Centre Dockside Road London E16 2QT Entry Information Registration will only be accepted from swimmers who are members of clubs and associations that are in memberships on the National Federation affiliated to FINA. Entry forms will only be accepted that have had their National Federations approval.
