2 Obstetrics & Gyne Overview The 2015 Improving Practice in OBGYN Annual Symposium once again has assembled a panel of expert faculty to discuss the most current topics and issues affecting OBGYN clinical practice. As you review the course learning objectives, you will note the agenda strives to provide useful updates across the spectrum of obstetrics and gynecology. Questions and discussion will be encouraged throughout the day. Lastly, the symposium agenda provides excellent education for the entire inter-professional care team in OBGYN. Learning Objectives At the end of this symposium, learners should be able to: Apply strategies using salpingectomy in the prevention of ovarian cancer Discuss cervical cancer screening using primary HPV testing Define a High Reliability Organization (HRO) and name its major characteristics Review how to assess and diagnose opioid dependency in pregnancy Distinguish the differences between methadone vs. buprenorphine in the management of opioid addiction in pregnancy Summarize the criteria to determine if a patient is a candidate for office-based buprenorphine therapy Categorize options for postpartum pain control in opioid dependent patients Review process, criteria and indications for elective egg freezing Delineate all options for fertility preservation Target Audience OBGYN specialists, midwives, specialty nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, residents and fellows.
