1 Step 1 Launch the Ad Aware application by double clicking on the desktop icon. If there is no shortcut on your desktop then you can launch it by selecting the program from the programs menu with this path: Start, All Programs, Lavasoft Ad Aware SE Personal, Ad Aware SE Personal Step 2 When the application first starts, if your Mal ware definitions are too old to be useful, the program will warn you with a screen similar to this. If your definitions are current enough, then it will not display this. From here you should press OK Step 3 When the web update page launches, you should first connect with your internet connection, then click Connect

2 Step 4 When it finds the new definitions it will alert you, from here just click OK and it will begin downloading them. If the connection to the server fails, try checking their website ( for updates. Step 5 When the updates are finished downloading you will see a screen similar to this, from here just click Finish and it will launch the scanning portion of the application.

3 Step 6 This is the main screen of the program, all the options are set to the best possible configuration at installation, so the option screens are no concern to us. From here just click Start to proceed to the next screen. Step 7 Select the button next to the full system scan option, and just click Next to start the scanning process.

4 Step 8 Depending on the age, and how often your computer is used this process of scanning can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours. The scanning screen will look something like this. Step 9 The screen as it is scanning will not give you a progress indicator, but when it is finished it will display Scan Complete. The screen will look like this, from here just press Next

5 Step 10 The scanning results page will display all pieces of mal ware that were found on your system. From this page you can select the mal ware you wish to remove, by checking the box next to its title, and then clicking next to have it deleted. The best option is to right click anywhere on the list of objects found and then to select Select All from the menu that pops up, then click Next to have the objects removed. Step 11 When it is ready to begin deleting the mal ware from your system it will display a confirmation box, just click OK and it will begin quarantining and deleting everything you selected. Both the processes could take as little time as 30 seconds or as long as 30 minutes to complete.

6 Step 12 When it is finished with the deletion process the application will go back to the original screen like this one, and from here you can just close it with the X in the top right corner.
