2 SysAid Remote Discovery Tool The SysAid server comes with a built-in discovery service that performs various network discovery actions throughout your network. In some cases, for example firewall restrictions, you may wish to install a remote discovery service in your remote networks to perform the actions within that remote network, and transfer the data back to the SysAid server using the secured http protocol (similar to actions performed by SysAid Agents). This guide demonstrates how to install the SysAid discovery services on computers in remote networks. Please note that the SysAid remote discovery tool is available for SysAid Server release 6.5 or later SysAid releases. This guide relates to the remote discovery tool that is a part of SysAid release 7. 1 Tel ():

3 Running the Remote Discovery Wizard 1. Link for running Remote Discovery wizard from Preferences Download page You can reach the SysAid Remote Discovery Wizard via SysAid, by clicking the relevant link under under Preferences Downloads Download the installation file, launch it and follow the instructions in the wizard, as described below. 2. 4 By Clicking the Next button, you will reach a screen asking you to fill in your account information. You can find this information under Preferences Downloads in your SysAid. 3. Preferences Downloads page, where you can find your account information 3 Tel ():

5 4. Fill in your account information in the wizard Note that the name you fill in for the service will appear in your network discovery page, as an option in the relevant dropdown menu. By default the service name will be the name of the computer you are installing the service on. You may change it. Please make sure it is unique in case you have additional SysAid Remote Discovery services installed. After you fill in your information, click the Next button. 4 Tel ():

6 5. Select destination for the Remote Discovery service Now select a suitable place to install the new service on. You can browse your computer to choose a destination by clicking the Browse button. 5 Tel ():

7 6. Click to Install Here you can see the Summary of the installation settings. Click the Install button. 6 Tel ():

8 7. Installation in progress The Wizard will let you know when the installation is complete. Click Finish to complete the installation. 7 Tel ():

9 8. Installation completed Please note that a new Service called SysAid Discovery Service will run on the computer you just installed. This new service is configured to run automatically and all the configurations are performed from the SysAid Server. To activate the various functionalities of SysAid remote control tool, please check the complete SysAid User Manual under Asset Management- Network Discovery. 8 Tel ():

10 Now, you will be able to configure network discovery scans for your remote computers. This is a service that runs in SysAid. Go to Asset Management Network Discovery, and define the scans you wish your Remote Discovery Services to perform. 9. You can see your Remote Discovery Service on the Discovery Service name dropdown menu Your remote Discovery service runs as a service on the computer you have chosen. As soon as the remote computer successfully establishes communication with your SysAid Server, it will appear in Available Discovery Services under Asset Management Network Discovery. 9 Tel ():
