1 OHIO TRUCK DRIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS & TECHNICIAN COMPETITION Kalahari Resort & Conference Center Room Reservation Information MAY 20-21, 2016 Once again, the Ohio TDC will be held at the beautiful, family friendly Kalahari Resort & Conference Center in Sandusky Ohio. This year, we re pleased to announce that we will also be holding the Ohio Technician Competition (TechComp) at Kalahari on the same dates of May 20-21, Kalahari is America s largest indoor waterpark, and we ve revised the schedule to allow the competitors time to spend with their friends and family enjoying the waterpark! (Registration information to follow shortly.) The TDC event will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, May 20 with continental breakfast, registration and the written test. Following the written test, part of the group will do their pre-trip competition and the driving portion of the competition while the rest of the group is enjoying the day with their family. All TDC competitors will be advised via what day they will be competing on prior to the competition. On Saturday, the group who competed on Friday will have a relaxing day with their family while the group who didn t compete on Friday will be busy competing in the pre- trip and driving competitions. The competition schedule will depend greatly on how many drivers are registered in each class. The event will begin for the TechComp volunteers and competitors at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20 with registration and the written test. (Please have lunch prior to arrival.) Technician competitors will have educational sessions after the test and will end the day with a walk-through of the stations. There will be 9 stations this year, not including the written test. Station competitions will be held all day Saturday. On Saturday evening, everyone will gather in the Kilimanjaro Ballroom for the awards banquet. All information on the competition times are subject to change based on the size of the group. However, we will do our best to keep everyone informed via should any change be made. It is important that each contestant, judge, volunteer and company contact person provide an address. All registration information will be available on the website shortly. Booking your rooms at Kalahari quickly is vitally important if you want to stay at the hotel. Each sleeping room comes with up to 4 water park passes. Additional passes may be purchased. Kalahari has worked with OTA to allow the company representative to book the sleeping rooms, allowing for 4 water park passes for each room. The company representative will be responsible for picking up all the sleeping room keys, list of guests and room numbers, and waterpark passes. This way, you will be able to hand out the passes based on the number actually needed per family. If one family has 5 people (mom/dad/3 kids) in their room, and another family has only 2, you are able to regulate that so no one has to pay for the water park passes and no water park passes go unused. If you find you have extra waterpark passes, please give them to the OTA staff at the TDC registration desk so we may pass them on to other competitors who may need extras. However, if you are not concerned with obtaining the maximum number of water park passes, you may elect to have your drivers pick up their own room keys. To book fewer than 10 sleeping rooms, please contact Kalahari Reservation Department by calling and telling them you are calling for the 2016 TDC/TechComp Room Block at Kalahari Sandusky. All reservations must be made on or before Friday, March 18, Remember..book early! continued on reverse...

2 Companies wishing to book 10 or more sleeping rooms must contact Jerry Simon, Kalahari's Assistant Director of Sales. You may call Jerry at , or him at and he will prepare a room contract for you. Advising you to book early can t be said often enough! Kalahari sold out last year!!! You don t want to be scrambling to find rooms in the facilities located down the street! The sleeping room rate is $ for run of the house room type. That rate is good for up to four people in one room on Friday, 5/20/2016 or Saturday, 5/21/2016. Refer to Kalahari s website to view the various room types. Those checking in on Thursday will pay the reduced pre-weekend rate of $ on Thursday night, or up to three days prior to Thursday. That reduced rate is also honored for three days after the event. No matter when you check in or out, the rate on Friday night and Saturday night is $149. (Additional state and local taxes currently 11.75% will be charged.) The deposit policy for the facility is 1 night (plus taxes) at the time the reservation is made. The cancellation policy is: 72 hours, or more, prior to arrival to receive full refund, less $25.00 processing fee. Less than 72 hours prior to scheduled arrival forfeits entire deposit. Please note: Besides the complimentary 4 waterpark passes per room, we have also negotiated complimentary wireless internet in all guest rooms and convention center; 20% off at Spa Kalahari for all attendees; and the nightly resort fee of $14.99 per room has been waived. Terminal teams will not be permitted. Companies entering 3-4 drivers will be entered in the Small Team competition. Companies entering 5 or more drivers will be entered in the Large Team competition. For the small team, only the scores for the top three competitors will be considered for the team competition. For the large team, only the scores for the top five competitors will be considered for the team competition. Companies entering fewer than 3 drivers will not be eligible for the Team competition. See the reverse for important registration information

4 IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION Remember, this event will be held outside again this year! However, it will be at the very family-friendly Kalahari one of the largest indoor waterparks in the US. The schedule has been arranged to allow those providing equipment the ability to not have it tied up for the entire event in most cases. It also allows our competitors some free time to relax with their families. We look forward to a record number of participants this year so book your rooms and register early! Drivers are not permitted to have cell phones at any time during the competition! Volunteers are asked to leave the competition area if they must take a call. * Food service on Friday and Saturday will be for drivers competing on that day and volunteers working on that day. * DRIVER INFO: A single Banquet ticket is included in the driver registration fee, as well as lunch on the day they compete. All drivers will receive breakfast on Friday morning prior to the test. Drivers competing Saturday will be given Saturday morning breakfast also. If you have family members attending the banquet, each one MUST have a banquet ticket. Check with your safety person to determine if your family members have been included in the banquet and will have a ticket available. Safety managers - please be sure to advise OTA of the number of people you will have sitting at your table(s) at the banquet. * VOLUNTEER INFO: Each volunteer working will receive a lunch voucher for the day they are working as well as breakfast. Volunteers must purchase a banquet ticket if they wish to attend the banquet. Please use the provided ticket purchase form. Groups from the same company will be seated together. If volunteers have made arrangements to sit with a competitors company, but you are NOT with that company - please contact dianna@ohiotrucking.org immediately to advise her who you are sitting with. Volunteers not with a competitors company will be asked to fill in at empty seats. GENERAL INFORMATION: * Dress for the banquet suit; sport coat, tie and slacks, or collared shirt, tie and slacks for men; and appropriate wear for the ladies. Please remember there will be a photographer present so dress appropriately. * Kalahari has many food areas available. We invite you to enjoy them. Food will NOT be available in the competition area for non-competing or volunteers who are not working that particular day. * Family members wishing to watch the course competition may wish to bring a chair and dress appropriately for the weather. The competition will be outside this year. VOLUNTEERS and DRIVERS MUST WEAR THEIR BADGES AT ALL TIMES DURING THE COMPETITION. SMOKING IS PERMITTED ONLY WHERE DESIGNATED. NO COOLERS CONTAINING FOOD AND/OR BEVERAGES ARE PERMITTED IN PUBLIC AREAS. All state champions are eligible to go on to the National Truck Driving Championships, August 9-13, 2016 at Indiana Convention Center, Indianapolis IN. Driver's company will be advised of the cost of registration for the NTDC and driver will be given a packet of information. Driver's company will be required to complete the ATA registration form and send a check for driver's registration to Ohio Trucking Association to be forwarded to NTDC with the registration information for Ohio's state champions. Payment of the driver's registration is the responsibility of the driver's company.

5 OHIO TRUCKING ASSOCIATION 2016 TRUCK DRIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS SUMMARY OF CONTESTANT GROUND RULES AND EXPECTATIONS Registration: All contestants must report to the event registration desk on Friday, May 20 at 8:00 a.m. Registration will be held in the Conference Center lobby of the Kalahari Resort, 7000 Kalahari Drive, Sandusky OH Failure to register will result in disqualification unless reason for absence is deemed acceptable by the majority of the TDC Steering Committee Members. Company representative may plead case for why driver should be admitted. If the driver in question is from a Steering Committee members company, said committee member will have an opportunity to plead drivers case, and then will recuse him or herself from the decision. All contestants must provide an address so we are able to contact them should there be any agenda changes. Orientation: Attendance: All contestants must attend driver orientation Friday, May 20, following the test. All contestants must be at all roll calls, scheduled and unscheduled. Scheduled roll calls are Friday 8:30 a.m. for ALL contestants. (TIMES SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON FINAL DRIVER COUNT. All competitors and volunteers will be advised via of final agenda prior to the event.) Bullpen volunteers will conduct roll calls for drivers throughout the competition. Written Exam: All contestants will be required to complete the written exam on Friday, May 20, PLEASE STUDY THE FACTS FOR DRIVERS HANDBOOK. Companies may obtain these books from American Trucking Associations (atabusinessolutions.com). Search Facts for Drivers Classes: Conduct: Each class of drivers will remain together during their day of competition. Each class will be assigned a captain who drivers will report to. Drivers will be advised when and where to report. Please be sure to include an address for each driver so they will have the driving schedule to share with family and friends prior to the competition. No phones are permitted during the competition. Drivers with phones will be subject to disqualification. If a contestant has a concern or problem, it is to be reported to their Class Capitain, Bullpen Volunteer, or a course or pretrip judge, or OTA staff member, who will notify the Volunteer/Judges Chairman. In turn he/she will notify the TDC Chairman and/or Committee if necessary. All contestants must report back to the area they are advised to go to after finishing competition in any event. Only the person in charge of the event (course, pretrip or bullpen) can release a contestant to leave the group or designated area. Classes of drivers, when not competing are free to enjoy the facility. Contestants may watch competition when not competing. Drivers must report to the registration area at least 20 minutes before their competition. (Times on schedule are estimated, and an announcement will be made when to report to registration area and bull pen). Kalahari is large - so please allow the proper amount of time to get from your room to the competition area. All contestants are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner. If a problem or questions should arise, it shall be taken to the Bullpen Volunteer, or a course or pretrip judge, or OTA staff member, who will notify the Volunteer/Judges Chairman. In turn he/ she will notify the TDC Chairman and/or Committee if necessary. Professionalism is required of all contestants, judges, volunteers, and all persons representing their companies and the industry. The Code of Conduct must be adhered to at all times. No alcohol is permitted in or around the competition area during this two day event. Kalahari is a smoke free building. Smoking is allowed only in designated areas.

6 CODE OF CONDUCT Professionalism is required of all contestants, judges, volunteers, and all persons representing their companies and the industry in general. The Ohio Trucking Association and the Ohio Trucking Safety Council require strict adherence to the following Code of Conduct: 1. No abusive or profane language will be tolerated. 2. Respect will be shown to all fellow contestants, judges and volunteers. 3. No destruction of private or personal property. 4. No alcohol consumption at any time during competition on Friday or Saturday until competition is over. 5. There will be a cash bar during the reception and banquet Saturday night. 6. All contestants are expected to behave responsibly and in a professional manner. 7. For all situations not addressed in this code or more stringent company policy, please see your company official or representative for clarification. 8. Cell phones are NOT permitted to be with the competitor during the written test, pretrip, or course competition. Please leave your cell in your car, or with a family member. Violation of the Code of Conduct will result in immediate disqualification from competition in this year s event. Company officials will be notified and depending on the severity of the violation could result in future disqualification of the individual and company. Participants Participants are not allowed to have family members, friends or guests with them during competition or while with Class groups. Participants will be advised where and when to report on their day of competition. The day they are not competing, they are free to watch the competition or take advantage of the waterpark. Disqualification Violation of any of the rules will result in driver disqualification from the competition. If driver has completed any or all competition when violation occurs, driver s scores will be voided. Contestant will be disqualified if he/she misses any scheduled roll call. Any driving accident during competition will result in disqualification. Contestants must remain with their groups unless they are in competition, or have been released. Non-Contestants Family or friends of drivers in the competition are not allowed to be with the driver while he/she is competing, during orientation or while the driver is with his/her Class while waiting on next competition. Disqualification Failure to follow these rules can result in driver disqualification. If a problem or concern arises, please contact the class capitain, person in charge of the bullpen, or one of the judges immediately. Center, Sandusky Ohio May 20-21, 2016 DRIVER and EXTRA BANQUET TICKET REGISTRATION Although there is no fee to attend the actual skills competition on Friday and Saturday, all family members and company personnel must stop at the OTA registration desk prior to watching the competition. Food and beverages are provided to our competing drivers the day they compete only. Breakfast on Friday will be provided to all competitors prior to the test. Saturday breakfast will be for Saturday competitors ONLY. All competitors are given one banquet ticket for Saturday night, which is included in their registration cost. PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR COMPETITORS IN YOUR BANQUET TICKET PURCHASE! * Food service on Friday will be for Friday competitors and volunteers only. * Awards Banquet will be held Saturday night at Kalahari. * Food service on Saturday will be for Saturday competitors and volunteers only. * Children 12 and under may attend for $25 each. * There is no food service provided for drivers the day they do not compete. * Cost for adult banquet tickets are $59 each. * Kalahari has many on-property restaurants to accommodate meal needs. * Table assignments will be by company based on ticket purchases All banquet tickets will be given to the individual named below at the event on Friday, or Saturday morning. If you would like to have your tickets mailed to you in advance, please check below. NO TICKETS WILL BE REPLACED IF LOST OR LEFT AT HOME. Lunch vouchers for competitors, volunteers and judges will be placed in the individual s registration packet. Everyone coming to the competition is encouraged to stop at the registration desk prior to viewing the competition. Note: Driving course and pretrip will both be outside again this year at this family-friendly indoor waterpark.
