1 March 18 & 19, 2016 Dear San Antonio API Team Roping & BBQ Teams and Sponsors: Our 14 th annual API Scholarship Team Roping and BBQ Cook-off will be held March 18 & 19, 2016 at the San Antonio Rose Palace. The past contributions have enabled many deserving area students reach their goals of graduating from college. The number of students awarded scholarships varies from year to year depending on the amount of funds available. These scholarships are awarded to a child of a person directly employed in the energy industry, and are based on scholastic merit, community service and need. As of this school year we are supporting a total of 40+ students in various colleges and Universities with scholarships. We have also endowed UTSA and A&M San Antonio with $50,000 each for scholarships. This is a great venue to advertise your business and provides a unique event for employees of the oilfield to engage in friendly competition while giving back to the community. A silent auction will be held on Friday night through Saturday with items generously donated by various vendors in our area. For the reasons above, we are asking for your support to help fulfill as many students dreams as possible. On behalf of these students and the scholarship committee, we applaud you, our sponsors, for giving so generously to our youth. The purpose of our Team Roping / BBQ Cook Off is to raise funds for the San Antonio API Chapter College Scholarship Fund. Currently we have 40+ students attending Texas universities and colleges. We need your sponsorship and support to continue the funding for our future generation. There are 500+ oilfield team ropers currently registered in the API system. We have room for only 12% of these registered ropers to participate here in San Antonio. This roping is by invitation only and is on a first come, first serve basis. 8 March 18-19, 2016 BBQ COOK OFF RULES 1. Three categories of meat will be judged: Beef Brisket, Baby Back Ribs & One fully jointed half chicken. BBQ auction will be held on Friday, March 19th along with the cowboy auction. All teams must be present at BBQ auction. 2. A chief cooks meeting will be held on Saturday morning March 19th at 7:00 a.m. Pick up time will be from 9:30 a.m. 11:45 p.m. on Saturday. Judging timeframe will depend on the time needed to judge entries properly. 3. Teams may check in on Friday, March 18th beginning at 9:00 a.m. Before setting up, make sure that you have checked in with the BBQ Director. Please be checked in by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 19th. 4. We will have a jackpot People s Choice/Best Dish Cook off on Friday evening. It is your cooking team s choice to enter. We will award a prize for 1 st, 2 nd, & 3 rd place. This is an optional event for the cook teams. It is open to whatever food you to choose to enter! Judging time 6:00 PM, Friday, don t be late! 5. Contestants must supply all equipment and supplies for cooking. Any additional supplies such as extension cords, trash cans/bags and generators must be provided by contestants. Please bring fire extinguishers. A designated garbage area will be provided for your use. All fires and ashes must be in containers not on the ground! 6. Cook off contestants must provide enough food to feed thirty people on Saturday. We will serve lunch to all San Antonio API members and attendees from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. This event is also open to the general public so please prepare accordingly. All alcohol must be purchased from the San Antonio Rose Palace (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code).

9 7. The chief cook is responsible for the conduct of his team members and/or any person/persons who are in his/her space. Excessive consumption of alcohol or possession of alcohol which is in violation of TABC rules will be grounds for disqualification. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN. Violators will be escorted off the premises and reported to the San Antonio Chapter API Executive Board. 8. First and Second individual awards and a Third place team award will be presented to the top teams in the Beef Brisket, Baby Back Ribs and Chicken categories (subject to change). Overall winners will win the BBQ Auction. Top three will divide the designated amount. The awards will be presented following the conclusion of the Team Roping event on Saturday. The awards ceremony will be held at the Rose Palace. 9. The committee members reserve the right to make additional regulations as the situation warrants. Decisions of the committee and judges will be final.

10 JUDGING RULES Judging Trays: One tray and foil will be issued for each category of meat to chief cook. If any containers are marked when they are turned in, that team will be disqualified. Each tray must have enough meat for five judges. 1. Beef Brisket: Seven (7) slices of brisket 2. Baby Back Ribs: Seven (7) Baby Back ribs 3. Chicken: One fully jointed half chicken Judging Contents: The exact quantities of meat are to be placed in tray and turned into committee member at the following collection time. Meat collection times will be announced 15 minutes before judging opens up. Meat Schedule: Baby Back Ribs One fully jointed half chicken Beef Brisket 9:30 a.m. 10:30 a.m. 11:30 a.m. As always, this event is for fellowship and fun as well as an API fundraising event.
