4 ROLE SUMMARY NETWORK ENGINEER Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) supports 4 market-facing divisions that together represent c 1.1 billion revenue. The business is enjoying an exciting period of growth, largely through several high profile acquisitions and organic growth. Over the last 12 months, the focus has been to improve IT service delivery to the business and the effective management of strategic vendors and third party service providers, to deliver the best service possible. To drive greater development, efficiencies and synergies within the IT provision. ETS encapsulates a broad range of hosting, network, application and IT support disciplines, in order to provide our customers with high quality value added IT services. Using a hybrid of industry best practices, known internally as the Technology Minimum Expected Practices (TMEP s), as a framework for the provision of IT services, ETS KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: offers high availability services, monitoring and reporting as an integral IT service delivery partner for Informa, aligned to common business goals. This position is part of a team that is responsible for providing Network Engineering services for Informa s Enterprise Technology Services organisation. It will lead and coordinate activities to implement, manage and support enterprise networking solutions. The post holder will have the ability to be self-motivated and have the ability to work on your own initiative. An ability to perceive underlying practices that affect application performance and identify potential improvements will be important, alongside the requirement to participate in collaborative projects across multiple global teams and or disciplines as appropriate. To enforce the relevant standards and security guidelines set out by the Chief Information Security Officer Contribute to the definition, adoption and enforcement of Operational Governance and Compliance Policies e.g. TMEP s Support and embrace all audit activities, accept feedback and respond with a positive focus/continual improvement Participate in regular audits and respond to non-compliance and observations within the agreed timeframes TECHNOLOGY, INNOVATION AND SERVICE STANDARDS System integration and design: Ability to understand application, network and system capabilities and produce networking solutions that meet business requirements Support planning and ongoing improvement activities for the networks; WAN, LAN, Internet, DMAs, VPNs and associated managed and non-managed service providers. Support and manage other associated initiatives e.g. penetration testing, intrusion prevention/detection, performance testing and network monitoring/planning To maintain regional and global network environments To ensure standards and guidelines are applied and maintained across the network for administration, deployment and monitoring of WAN, LAN, Internet, DMZ, VPN etc. Ensuring continuity and quality by owning the service and the resolution of issues internally, or through the managed service providers. Responsibility for tracking progress and escalating as appropriate, until resolution is reached Ensuring appropriate contingency procedures are in place for the network infrastructures (technology, process & people) and that these are fully documented, maintained & regularly tested Role Profile Network Engineer Informa PLC 4

5 Responsible for planning, testing, implementation & configuration of all networks across the Enterprise Observe and adhere to the Technology Minimum Expected Practises for all tasks and projects Maintain complete, accurate and up-to-date operational documentation relating to the network infrastructures; e.g. Service Catalogue, Run Books, processes, procedures, diagrams etc. Take responsibility for collating appropriate information and supporting information to document incident reports as appropriate and publish accordingly Technical Responsibilities Layer 3 routing protocols (static, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP) Layer 2 routing protocols (802.1Q, Spanning Tree, GRE etc) Cisco DMVPN Solutions Excellent knowledge of DNS and DHCP Excellent knowledge of MPLS and VPLS Demonstrated knowledge of QoS Demonstrated knowledge of Wireless infrastructure solutions including Cisco and Meraki products Capacity planning & capacity management Web Proxy & Filtering Services Good knowledge of Cisco & Checkpoint Firewalls General Responsibilities Be able to work from Howick Place London 2 or 3 days along with home working Manage network related issues in a timely manner Provide expertise for troubleshooting Design and implement networks including physical connections, layer 2 topologies and layer 3 topologies Ensure proposed network designs are compliant with TMEPs Design and implement technologies such as BGP,OSPF, HSRP, VRRP, Spanning Tree and Etherchannel Design and implement WAN Acceleration technologies. Design and implement Quality of Service (QOS) policies Work with Telecom and MS Lync teams to support VOIP phone systems and infrastructure Upgrade and replace network hardware where appropriate Manage regular network health check and process review Perform project work such as upgrades new installations and integrations Create and maintain project and site documentation Work with lead client/business manager to understand project plans and scope for assigned role on engagement Support security and network management systems Manage multiple vendors to procure network-related hardware, software, and services Maintain network security through proper configuration of VPN and Firewalls The ideal applicant will preferably need to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, abilities and qualifications: KNOWLEDGE Held a previous network engineering position Role Profile Network Engineer Informa PLC 5
