4 INTRODUCTION 4 The BSB50215 Diploma of Business is delivered by The Entourage Education Group, which is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 41185). This booklet is to be read in conjunction with the Student Handbook that contains policies, procedures and information that generally applies to all students. The Entourage Education Group was founded in 2010 by Jack Delosa and provides a range of training programs focussed on business entrepreneurship. For details visit:
5 COURSE DELIVERY 5 The BSB50215 Diploma of Business is comprised of 8 units of competency* and is delivered over 42 weeks in an online format supported by designated tutors. This includes a customised mix of videos featuring Jack Delosa, founder of The Entourage, and other experts in business entrepreneurship. In addition, there are learning slides, screen casts, a list of specialised readings, case studies and customised assessment tasks. With regular intake dates, each cohort of students forms a learning community that is connected through our custom designed student portal. (* A unit of competency describes the knowledge and skills required to achieve a specific work outcome. Units of competency are used as the standard for a competency assessment.) Each group of students has dedicated tutors to maximise continuity to create a shared learning experience. Sessions with a tutor can cover requirements of assessment tasks that may include the following: Research activities; The creation of business documents and reports; Preparation for practical skills assessments; and The application of knowledge and skills to the entrepreneurial and business environment Tutors can also provide additional learning support if a student requires assistance with an aspect of the course. The tutors can be contacted by and they can call students to provide guidance for assessment tasks and coaching assistance when required. The units of competency in the BSB50215 Diploma of Business are released progressively over the duration of the course and are listed later in this Booklet. Each unit s release includes the related assessment tasks. Assessment Procedures Assessment tasks are set for each unit of competency and in general terms, assessment during training will involve Written responses to questions, assignments and case studies Practical demonstration of skills You will be given advance notice of the timing and structure of assessments. You will be given an opportunity for two formalre-assessments. for any competencies not achieved on the first attempt.
6 APPLICATION PROCESS 6 After you have reviewed the information in this Booklet and the related Student Handbook and you wish to proceed, you can contact us at diploma@the-entourage.com.au if you have any questions. During the application process, we will conduct a telephone interview with you to answer any of your questions and assess your capability to successfully complete the program which will include how we can best meet your individual learning needs. You will be notified of the outcome of your application. What equipment do I require to study online? You will need a computer, some basic software (like Microsoft Word) and an internet connection - that s it. You will be using our online portal for most of your course.
7 COURSE FEES 7 Fees The course fee for the BSB50215 Diploma is $ Course fees will include an initial deposit, followed by regular payments over the duration of the course. The first payment is payable prior to a student logon being issued. Students will be suspended from the course if fees are not paid in accordance with the payment schedule. The fee for recognition of prior learning (RPL) is $6,400 ($800 per unit of competency) plus a non-refundable $300 application fee. Fee Refund Policy Students, who give notice to cancel their enrolment 10 business days or more prior to the commencement of a program, will be entitled to a full refund of fees paid. This policy complies with the Australian Consumer Law required statutory cooling off period for the sale of goods and services. Students who give notice to cancel their enrolment 9 business days or less prior to the commencement of a program will be entitled to a 75% refund of fees paid. The amount retained (25%) by The Entourage Education Group is required to cover the costs of staff and resources which will have already been committed based on the student s initial intention to undertake the course. Students who wish to withdraw after commencing the course must provide 28 days notice and complete the Course Withdrawal Form that is in the student portal. Upon processing of the Course Withdrawal Form, payments will cease after 28 days from the date on the Form. Any fees in arrears will be debited.
8 QUALIFICATION 8 Students successfully completing all assessment requirements for the qualification will be awarded a BSB50215 Diploma of Business. Students completing assessment requirements for part of the qualification will be awarded a Statement of Attainment indicating which units of competency they have successfully completed. All assessments must be submitted within 12 months of the enrolment date, which is the close off date for the course. A period of time equivalent to the appeal period specified in the Student Handbook is allowed in addition to the 12 months. In exceptional circumstances, extensions for the submission of assessments can be approved on a case by case basis where a student makes an application in writing setting out their reasons. Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Please notify us if you consider you may have language, literacy or numeracy problems that may inhibit your ability to successfully complete the course. We will make reasonable efforts to modify delivery and assessment procedures to enable participation by students who require specific support to address LLN or other specific learning needs. Students with specific language, literacy and numeracy needs will be referred to appropriate government-funded agencies for assistance. Recognition of Prior Learning RPL is for applicants who believe they already have achieved some of the competencies in the course. The procedure is contained in the Student Handbook. Credit Transfer Students who have completed units from their course at other institutions will be given recognition on presentation of a verified transcript, Award or Statement of Attainment. Details are included in the Student Handbook. Complaint Resolution We have a complaint resolution procedure to provide students with a fair and equitable process for resolving any disputes or complaints they may have. The procedure is included in the Student Handbook.
9 QUALIFICATION 9 Student Support Students requiring assistance with their course work and/or require an extension for an assessment or a deferral to complete their course, should contact their tutor in the first instance. If a student requires welfare and guidance services, The Entourage will assist by providing information about appropriate providers. Please contact us via at diploma@the-entourage.com.au in the first instance. Relevant Legislation A range of legislation is applicable to all students and staff. Information on relevant legislation can be found in the Student Handbook. Privacy Personal information is collected solely for the purpose of operating as a Registered Training Organisation under the Standards of Registered Training Organisations Information will only be used or disclosed for the purpose for which it was collected (the primary purpose) or for a secondary purpose that an individual would reasonably expect. Information can also be disclosed if required or authorised under law. Students can access personal information held by The Entourage Education Group and may request corrections to information that is incorrect or out of date. 11 LIST OF COMPETENCIES 11 Stage of Quest Unit Name How You Will Be Assessed BSBWOR501 Manage personal work priorities and professional development The first session concerns how to establish personal work goals and how to serve as a positive role model. Will promote the importance of Vision, Mission, Values (VMV) as the foundation for the rest of the course. Assessment tasks involve examining case studies and how VMV is set by entrepreneurs. There are also written questions on how you go about setting your own VMV and then developing your own personal VMV statement. assessment process. BSBMKG501 Identify and evaluate marketing opportunities This unit looks at identifying new markets and determining whether they would be attractive and profitable to enter. It will include how to identify an opportunity and then quickly test it to see if it is an opportunity with product/market fit. Tasks include written questions on different methods to identify new market opportunities. There is also a focus on assessing the elements of a case study to test product to market fit. assessment process. BSBMKG502 Establish and adjust the marketing mix We discover how to establish a marketing mix that best satisfies the target market & meets marketing objectives. It will focus on building an attraction model i.e. once we have proven demand for the product/service how do we then get people to find and want it? There are written questions on how attraction models work and their effectiveness. A case study is included that is reviewed and questions are structured around the study. assessment process. BSBSLS501 Develop a sales plan We explore setting sales targets, developing a sales plan and monitoring results. Written questions on how to develop a sales plan and the importance in building market share. 12 LIST OF COMPETENCIES 12 Stage of Quest Unit Name How You Will Be Assessed BSBMKG510 Plan e-marketing communications This unit covers developing and implementing an e-marketing strategy and a website marketing plan. It also includes measuring the effectiveness of website marketing activities. These are the crucial steps in owning an online space & supercharging the attraction model and sales processes. Written questions on executing a marketing strategy and evaluating its effectiveness. There is a focus on the assessment of skills required to develop and deploy a marketing communications. assessment process. BSBGOV403 Analyse financial reports and budgets This unit explores setting budgets, monitoring revenues and expenditures to ensure you can hit those budgets. Written questions on budget setting and the importance of financial management. There will also be tutorial questions with your assessor. BSBINN502 - Build and sustain an innovative work environment This unit has a focus on management & leadership as well as innovation. It shows the importance of making innovation an integral part of leadership and management activities. The unit also provides information on proactively sharing relevant information, knowledge and skills with employees. Written questions on identifying the importance of leading innovation and the importance of information sharing. Skills assessment will focus on team leadership and effective communication in leading innovation within a business. assessment process. BSBMGT403 Implement continuous improvement This unit explores monitoring the current operations of the business. It also covers implementing continuous improvement to drive the business forward & ensuring the new business will continue to improve & grow, thus allowing the entrepreneur to focus on the big, strategic issues. If you have successfully completed one or more units of competency, but not the required number for the full qualification, you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for those units.
