It is therefore less sesitive to iterferece tha a voltage or curret iterface. With PROFIBUS, the statios are coected to the bus via a bus termial or a bus coector (max. 32 statios per segmet). The electrical etwork ca be cofigured as a bus or tree structure. The idividual segmets are coected via repeaters. The trasmissio rate ca be set i steps from 9.6 Kbit/s to 12 Mbit/s i accordace with IEC 61158/EN The maximum segmet legth depeds o the trasmissio rate. The fiber-optic cable is provided with a coatig. The term "fiber" is ofte also used for fiber-optic cables (FOC). Optical etworks are especially suitable for log rages. There is a choice betwee plastic, PCF or glass fiber-optic cables. The special desig of the FastCoect bus cables permits the use of the FastCoect strippig tool, with which the outer sheath ad the braided shield ca be removed to measure i oe operatio. Cables prepared i this way are attached to the FastCoect bus coectors usig the isulatio displacemet method. 15 Siemes AG 2008 The SpliTCoect system SpliTCoect for fieldbus systems is used for costructig fieldbus segmets as per IEC (e.g. PROFIBUS PA) with field device iterface poits. The bus cable is easy to assemble thaks to the FastCoect system (FastCoect strippig tool, FC Process Cable compliat with IEC ). The FC Process Cable is stripped as with FastCoect. Additioal groudig of the SpliTCoect Tap ca be implemeted usig a cotactig screw. The termial devices ca be coected usig the FC Process Cable i accordace with IEC or the SpliTCoect M12 Outlet/M12 Jack. 19 Siemes AG 2008 Active etwork compoets: Electrical etwork Bus coector The RS 485 bus coectors for PROFIBUS are used for coectig a PROFIBUS statio or a PROFIBUS etwork compoet to the bus cable for PROFIBUS. There are differet versios of the bus coectors i Sub-D, RJ45 or M12 coectio techology that are optimized for the devices to be coected. Bus termials The PROFIBUS bus termials eable coectio of a bus ode to a PROFIBUS etwork. Differet versios are available: Up to 1.5 Mbit/s: RS 485 bus termial Up to 12 Mbit/s: 12M bus termial The bus termials have a prepared device coectio for PROFIBUS statios. Statios are coected to PROFIBUS etworks by simply coectig Sub-D coectors to the spur lie. Multi-poit coectios ca be implemeted by directly liig up several bus termials (up to 32 statios per segmet) at bus termial 12M. Active termiatig elemet The active RS 485 termiatig resistor is used to termiate bus segmets. Power supply is idepedet of the bus statios. Separately from the other I/O compoets, the termiatig resistor is supplied with a permaet voltage or with a voltage switched from the I/O. By termiatig the bus system, the statios (e.g. ET 200M/S) ca be freely coected ad discoected without malfuctios. Repeater RS 485 The RS 485 repeater with IP20 coects two PROFIBUS or MPI bus segmets i RS 485 techology with up to 32 statios, icludig repeaters. It eables trasfer rates from 9.6 Kbit/s to 12 Mbit/s (icludig Kbit/s for PROFIBUS PA).
