2 ABOUT PROMED The Council for the International Promotion of Costa Rica Medicine is a non-profit organization that coordinates the efforts carried out to ensure the quality of services provided by the private health and tourism industry in Costa Rica. PROMED s membership includes healthcare and wellness providers such as hospitals, medical and dental clinics and spas. Members also include affiliated services such as recovery retreats, hotels, medical transportation, tour operators, medical travel facilitators, insurance companies, law firms, healthcare marketing agencies, healthcare consultants and many others. PROMED develops regulatory standards and promotes the certification of service providers with the support of international bodies, banks, educational and training organizations. The Seal of Quality stands for accredited services under international standards like: JCI, AAAASF, AAAHC, CAMTS, among others. About CAMLS - USF The Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation - CAMLS is the largest freestanding assessment and teamwork competence center in the world. CAMLS is at the forefront of teaching methods that focus on coordinated teamwork approaches in order to elevate the quality of patient care. Standing at three stories and covering over 90,000 square feet, the CAMLS facility houses a comprehensive menu of medical simulation services for surgeons, clinical teams, and residents through state of the art programs with measureable outcomes. We look to promote the highest standard of healthcare knowledge by blending simulation technology, innovative research, team training, and evidence based practice into our medical training programs.

Tampa and Retirement Living A recently initiated partnership between The Villages, a nationally known health-community that is home to over 80,000 retirees, and the University of South Florida (USF) has been lauded as an important opportunity to improve community health and to launch a long-term population health study with national implications. USF will open a small office in the Villages, from which university researchers will study indicators such as the incidence of diabetes and how residents view their own health. USF physicians will participate in medical rounds and engage The Villages community through educational outreach; the participating researchers plan to use the information gathered through the study to recommend potential improvements for the community.
